liverview nitiluti celebrates
-By DOUG McNAIR
When the Riverview Women's In-
stitute members and their guests ar-
rived at the Masonic Hall for the
December meeting they realized that
this was the meeting for celebrating
Christmas.
The executive was responsible for
planning and presenting this meet-
ing. The first things that caught
one's eye were the beautiful Christ-
mas decorations throughout the hall
and on the tables. Before everyone
sat down to enjoy a bounteous pot
luck meal, each member presented
two gifts, one for the Salvation
Army and one for the Canccr Cup-
board.
After lunch, Evelyn McNaughton,
the president, presided for a Christ-
mas programme. Lorna Priestley
read the Christmas Story from Luke
Chapter 2, and Rev. Jean Morris
gave a few thoughts on the meaning
of Christmas. Jean then continued
the Christmas message by reading a
humorous story about a Christmas
pageant.

Riverview. Women's Institute was
involved in another activity recently
when the Institute along with Mid-
dlesex County Library, Ontario Li-
brary. Service Thames, The Ministry
of Citizenship and Culture and Out-
reach Ontario brought Lillie Haw-
orth from the Royal Botanical Gar-
dens to Craigwicl Activity Centre
to present a p rogram.mc on Christ-
mas
hrist-
mas design.
The audience that filled the Activ-
ity Centre to capacity was wel-
comed by Riverview Women's In-
stitute members with a cup of
coffee and a cookie. After Mrs.
Haworth was introduced by Joan
Mcdonald from the Ailsa Craig -Li-
brary, she gave a lively demonstra-
tion.
The Christmas decorations were
made from fresh, dried, and pre-
served plants. It is likely that many
from the audience have now made
bows, wreaths, and table decorations
similar to the ones made by Mrs:
Haworth.
The next meeting of Riverview
Women's Institute will be on Janu-
ary 5 at 1:30 in the Masonic Hall.

News from Lucan Revival Centre
Pieter Schinkleshoek +Sunday
morning read Isaiah 12:1 before the
song service. Rev. Roger Mason,
from Revelation 1:4-8, told of three
things the Lord Jesus has done for
us. Jesus loved us, and'demonstrated
His lave for us by what He did for
us on the cross, as Romans 5:8
says. The New Testament is a love
story of God's love for us in John
3:16-17.
Secondly, Jesus spiritually
washed our sins away by His shed
blood at Calvary. Without the shed
blood of Jesus,,a religion is only a
moral philosophy. Just as our bod-
ies get dirty in daily living, so our
spirits can get polluted from world-
ly sins. Only the blood of Jesus can
cleanse us as 1 John 1:6-9 states.
Jesus has made those washed in His
blood to be kings and priests in His
kingdom.
Christmas Concert
The program opened with Brad
day dreaming on what to write for a
Christmas morning story of the
meaning of Christmas. It is Christ-
mas eve, and the whole family are
gathered at Grandma and Grandpa's
house for the night.
Some family members ask him if
he is going carolling, but he said he
had to write his story. While he
continued dreaming, all the family
members returned. One, Vicki Sum-
ners, sang Born to be a Shepherd,.
before all the family went to bed,
but Brad. -
While Brad dreams, prophets ap-
pear
ppear to him announcing Scripture
prophecies of the Messiah's birth.
Judi Ross, accompanied by James -
Henry playing his guitar, sang To
the MysteryBrad says he wonders
what is goink on, then dreams on.
A lamb appeared to tell him they
see Jesus as a star. All the lambs
come up. Led by Mrs. Ross, they
sing Mary Had a Little Lamb.
Away went the lambs. Brad fell
asleep. -
A Roman soldier announced loud-
ly, with fanfare on piano, the Ro-
man decree for all Jews of David's
line to go to Bethlehem for a cen-
sus. Brad decides to go back to
sleep. But a knock on the door
showed a couple asking for a,room,
as she was going to have a baby. A
cousin offered the stable, but Brad
said that was no place to have a
baby. He offered his couch, and then
blankets, but by then they were
gone.
An angel startled him announcing
the Messiah's birth. A group of an-
gels proclaimed Glory to God in the
highest, but Brad slept on. The an-
gels tried to stir him up, telling
him Jesus was born. They then
sang Gloria, but Brad slept on.
Shepherds came in telling him to
hurry up and get to Bethlehem to
see the messiah. When Brad fell
back on the sofa, they said the an-
gels must have scared him. Brad got
up saying he wasn't dressed. They
told him he looked like them, in his
bathrobe, but he had funny feet, (his
slippers). Asked if he was coming
or not, he said he had to get his coat
and camera but then the shepherds
were gone.

How Could It Be? Brad actually
kneeled in worship before baby Je-
sus. Joseph offered Brad the baby to
hold. He held him close to him as
he sat on the couch again, where
both fell asleep. Mary carefully took
baby Jesus, and she and Joseph left,
leaving Brad sleeping -on.
Joyful music startled Brad as cam-
els sang and clowned in celebrating
and singing Celebrate the Child.
Brad got up to listen totthem. He
then returned to his couch, remem-
bering the Christ child was his sto-
ry. Saying he was sleepy; he fell
