At their dinner' meeting on No- vember 25 at the Dominion Tavern there were 19 members of the Zu- rich Lions Club present and two guests. Special speaker for the even- ing was Anne Barrett, chairman of the "Block Parent" program in Zu- rich. It was reported by Lion ,Kevin McKinnon that the club collected S1,359 for the C.N.I.B. recently. A $100.00 donation was sent to the Friendship House in Huron County, and $250.00 will go to the Christ- mas Bureau. Friday December 18 will be the Ladies Night Christmas dinner and party at the Hotel. Each one is to bring a gift to exchange. Last Saturday we enjoyed a nice staff party in Goderich with a deli- cious dinner at the Bedford Hotel followed by a dance at the arena. Personals - The family of Charlie and Made- line Rau had a nice day together on Saturday December 5 when they had their pre -Christmas dinner at the Stanley Complex in Varna. Every- one present (71 in all) enjoyed visit- ing and even Santa was there to hand out gifts to all the children and. adults. Last Wednesday the tenants of the maple Woods Apts. had their monthly Birthday Party and get- together in the Common Room. All present enjoyed spending the evening singing Christmas carols, playing a few games of cards and 24laylcrob 1Nrs. Recently they also had their annual Christmas din- ner at the Dominion Tavern. , Congratulations to Jimmy Regicr and Marlene Feeney who were mar- ried on Saturday December 5 in Kitchener with several friends and relatives attending from the Zurich arca. The groom is the`Son of Pat and Evelyn Regier, and the couple will be living in Barrie. Mrs. Gen Doyle recently returned home after spending three weeks vi- siting with her daughter Evelyn Hurson and family in Roxborough, Montreal and going by train. Mrs. Pearl Gingerich is presently spending a couple of weeks with her daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Clive 011ies who have recently moved to Fort Erie, and helping to take care of her new little grand- daughter Kristen Elizabeth 011ics who was born on November 29. The family of Russell and Doro- thy Oesch enjoyed spending the day together on Sunday with a pre - Christmas dinner held at the Stanley Complex in Varna, Recently Ted and Janet Soudant and her parents Russell and Dorothy Oesch spent the weekend in the States and attended a relative's wed- ding. December 9 1987 Paas 11 A Pot -luck tonight Tonight, Wednesday December 9, a potluck supper is being held at St. Boniface School gym beginning at 6:00 p.m. for the C.W.L. mothers and their children. Following the meal a special puppet show will be the entertainment for the evening presented by Marian Doucette from Goderich. Then Santa will be on hand to pass .out treats to all the little ones. - On Wednesday December 2, the kindergarten and grade one classes from St. Boniface School spent the afternoon at the Lambton Museum near Grand Bend. Members of the St. Boniface Christmas Choir are to be congratu- lated on a job well done and the ter- rific two hour-long performance they presented. at the school last Wednesday evening. They also spent the day on Sunday entertain- ing the residents with their singing at the nursing homes in Zurich and Hensall, and at the Hospital in Goderich. This years Christmas concert by the pupils of St. Boniface School will be presented on Tuesday De- cember 15 in the gym (use the side door). They will have two perfor- mances that day, one at 1:15 in the afternoon an the other at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is most welcome. The public school will be holding their Christmas concert on Monday afternoon December 14 at 1:15 and again on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend both of these events. Christmas Dinner Twenty-two Golden Agers bowl- ers met Thursday afternoon Decem- ber 3 at the Town and Country Bowling Lanes. Ed Strachan and Reta Wright won the bowling priz- es. A Christmas crossword puzzle- followed. uzzlefollowed. Prizes were also given to Lyda Gandier wearing the most red, and Nora Heard the most green. Lucky chair was Eileen Consiu, and Barba- ra Strachan had the lucky saucer. A delicious Beef Dinner was served to the bowlers by Marlene and Tony Bedard. Members of the Zurich Women's Institute had their Christmas lun- cheon on Monday at the Dominion Tavern, with a good turnout. A lovely baby shower was held for little Amber -Leigh on Sunday December 6 at the Township Hall which was attended ky several friends of her mom, Marilyn Kenda. Amber was also present (or the oc- casion, and received many useful and nice gifts. On Tuesday December 1, the La- dies Auxiliary to the Blue Water Rest Home held their annual Christ- mas meeting and party for the resi- dents. They were treated to some singing, and a special demonstration by Earl Oesch who brought along some of the lovely wood carvings he has made of various animals, birds and ducks. He is very talented and did a fine job! (You can also see some of his carvings downtown in Mrs. Hesse's store window.) Following this, Santa Claus ar- - rived and handed out gifts of 1988 calendars to all the residents. A nice lunch was served to everyone. Twenty-eight members answered the roll call for the meeting after- wards. And Mr. Risi thanked us for our valued help throughout the year and especially at the last big Christ- mas dinner. Verda Baechler and Ina Neeb so kindly volunteered to be the next quilt conveners. The meeting was adjourned by Cecilia Farwell. Best wishes for a speedy recovery is extended to Ina Neeb of the Spruce Villa Apts. who is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Happy Birthday to Mrs. Nora Corriveau of the Spruce Villa Apts. on Sunday December 6. A little sur- prise birthday cake and social for her was organized by some of the ten- ants in the Common Room. The family of Claude and Made- line Gelinas celebrated their pre - Christmas together on Sunday with a delicious dinner at the Dominion Tavem.
