Goderich defeated by Waxers
Exeter novice Waxers pulled out a
3-1 win over Goderich Sunday at
the. South. Huron Rec Centre, ex-
tending their record to seven wins,
five losses and three tics in Sham-
rock Novice action.
The two Learns fought their—way
through a scoreless first period. In
the second, Dave Farquhar opened
the scoring at 1:53 when he pumper
in a shot on a pass from Eric Clay.
Ryan Soldan added to the lead two
minutes Tater after he connected
with Rob Lynn to score.
Goderich managed their only goal
of the game with 4:16 left to play
in the second when Nathan Ross
found the mark unassisted.
In the third, Bryce Hann finished
the scoring when he put the puck in
the net after picking up an excellent
pass from Farquhar and Ryan Beck-
ett.
Jason Lindenfield was in net for
Waxers.
Legionaires squeezed out of Clinton tourney
Exeter Legionaires got squeezed
out of a victory Friday night in
their first game of a Clinton Ban-
tam tournament when Wingham`
beat them 6-5 in an overtime shoot-
out.
Legionaires took a 1-0 lead in the
firstp,peeriod and turned it into a 2-1
advafitage in the second.
Harleii Tinney put Exeter in front
in the first when he picked up a
pass from Jason Hern to score.
In the second; Hern scored a goal
of his own from Dave O'Connor
and Tinney.
Steve Dubarry added a goal in the
third, unassisted, but Wingham was
able to match the effort and tie the
game.
After five minutes of sudden death
overtime, the game was still tied 3-
3 and a shoot-out was called for.
After the first three shooters, both
teams managed a goal. Exeter's
point was made by Tinney. In the
next three rounds, Wingham man-
aged to get past Exeter twice while
only Dave Dalrymple was success-
ful for Legionaires.
Exeter was forced to take a 6-5
loss.
The tourney schedule brought Le-
gionaires and Forest together Sun-
day.
After a scoreless first period, For-
est built a' two goal lead and Exeter
trailed 2-0 going into the third.
Forest added two goals in the final
Winter sports council receives boost
The Exeter Winter Sports Coun-
cil's plans to purchase a self-
propelled ice scraping machine re-
ceived a major boost Monday even-
ing when Exctcr Minor tkx;kcy ear-
marked S10,000 for the project.
Several other local groups have
also indicated support for the
S35,000 machine which must be or-

Molting
Hawks
Eric "Chromey" Finkbeiner came
out of a prolonged scoring slump,
to lead the Molting Hawks with
three goals, in their 11-4 victory
Dvcr Forest Wednesday.
Also scoring three goals were Ken
Bergman and Scott Burton.
Chipping in with one each were
Bob Jones; Jim Pfaff.
Pete McFalls added four assists.
Exeter Molting Hawks travelled
to Stratford to play a strong Oldtim-
ers team Sunday. Exeter lost 11-5.
Exctcr scorers were Ken Bergman
with two, Keith Ahrens one, Bob
Jones one and Bob McDonald.
Strathroy Oldtimcrs visited the
Molting Hawks Monday with Exet-
er winning 12-4.
Keith Ahrens went on a scoring
spree with five goals and two as-
sists.
Ken Bergman also had a seven
point night with one goal and six
assists.
Bob Jones picked up one goal and
four assists.
Walt Tiedeman twb goals and two
assists.
Bob McDonald had one goal and
four assists.
Ron Moore and Jim Empringham
one goal each.

EMHA unanimously approved do-
nating $5,000 from the 1987-88
season and another $5,000 from
1988-89. The hockey organization
had $15,000 set aside in a special
fund designated for equipment pur-
chases or emergencies. It was the
profits from the last large fund rais-
ing event which included raffling
off a mini van and a dance.
On a day to day operating basis
EMHA is running close to the line
with ice time rentals expected to
pass the $35,000 mark this year.
This executive discussed several
fund raising projects and although
no decision was reached a large
money -raising project could be an-
nounced soon.
Monday was the first time a gen-
eral meeting had been called partial-
ly through the season. President
Tom McCann said it would give
those who had problems or com-
plaints a chance to voice their opin-
