Elora goalie Jim Williams' first
Central Senior B start by scoring
eight goals in the first period. Exet-
er added two more in the third to
produce the final score.
Quincy Wilker scored Exeter's
opening goal at 2:30 in the first
during a power play from Barry
Baynham.
Just nine seconds later, Randy
Kraut put the puck in the net to
make it 2-0, again while Exeter had
a man advantage. Assists on the
play went to Wilker and Baynham.
Randy Bailey continued the drive
with a goal at 6:39 from Al Gates
and Bill Glover. Gates then found
the mark at 8:15 from John Kernick
and goalie Rick Pickul.
Kernick scored 39 seconds later
from Rob Mackie.
Elora got on the board at the ten
minute mark when Rob Leighton
scored from Jeff Bauman.
Wilker scored his second of the
night from Dave Randerson at
11:55 and then with 2:26 remaining
in the period, Gates potted his sec-
ond goal from Glover and Baynham.
Randerson finished off the first
period scoring frenzy, putting the
puck in the net with 16 seconds
showing on the clock.
Rocks made something of a
come -back in the second period with
three unanswered goals from Dave
Ferris, Don Magwood and Rod Mar-
tin, but Exeter tightened up in the
third.
Goals by Wilker and Paul Barton
put a win out of Elora's reach. Ran-
derson drew two assists on the third
period goals while Wilker and Bar-
ton picked up single assists.
Pickul holds Harriston
A strong effort by Rick Pickul in
goal for Exeter kept Harriston Blues
at bay Sunday afternoon and allowed
Mohawks to come out on the win-
ning side of a 9-5 score.
After falling behind 3-0 in the
first period, Harriston rallied and
drew to within one goal. Mohawks
graduated into a 7-3' lead after the
second and the two teams matched
goals in the third.
Jeff Shipley opened the scoring
less than two minutes into the first
period when he picked up a pass
from Mackie and John Rowland.
Paul Barton built on that lead
with a goal at 4:13 from Baynham.
Mark Soehner found the mark 41
seconds later from Kernick and Jeff
Warren.
A power play goal by Harriston's
John O'Connor at 10:44 put Blues
on the board. O'Connor scored again
with 3:20 left in the first to bring
Harriston to within one goal of Ex-
eter.
Glover put the puck in Blues net
with 42 seconds to go, restoring
Exeter's two goal lead.
Neither team was able to score in
the first 10 minutes of the second
period, but at L1:10, Randerson
broke the silence with a goal from
Barton and Dale Timmermans.
At 16:08, Ron Elliott punched in
a shot from Kris Bedard to make it
6-2 in Mohawks' favour, but Harris -
ton answered that with a goal from
Barry Richardson at 16:55.
• Rowland made it 7-3 with a goal
from Mackie and Shipley with 1:30
remaining in the middle period.
Harriston threatened again in the
early portions of the third with a
goal from Jeff Bender.
Markers by Wilker and Bedard
cancelled Bender's goal however.
With 7:10 remaining in the game,
Dan Hill scored Harriston's final
goal.
Notes: As was reported in last
week's issue of the Times -Advocate,
Mohawks downed Tavistock 6-2
Tuesday.
Five of the six goals scored by
Exeter were put in the net by de-
fencemen.
Warren picked up two goals in the
effort while singles came from Tim-
mermans, Bedard (who has been
playing both wing and defence),
Mike Zoretich and Sochner.
Mohawks are on the road this
weekend, playing Harriston Decem-
ber 12 and then meeting Palmerston
Sunday aftemoon.
