By MRS. IRVIN RADER
The Dashwood Women's Institute
members held the December meet-
ing at the Horseshoe Diner. Their
husbands and friends joined them for
a delicious Christmas dinner.
President, Catherine Becker wel-
comed the 22 present and took them
on a mini -flight to 10 United States'
towns, such as Mistletoe, N.Y. and
Noel, Mo. etc. and then for a smor-
gasbord dinner to 10 Canadian plac-
es such as Turkey Point and Carrot
River, etc.
A special thank you to Mrs.
Maud Hoffman for donating light
bulbs for the two new wrought iron
stars that were made by Ted Van
Rompay, donated by the Institute,
installed by the town. The other
two large stars were donated by the
Business Association last year.

Our part of the country looked
like a beautiful winter wonderland
this morning. However, a hoarfrost
is usually the forerunner of rain
which could bring us back to green
grass again.
On Monday evening, the films
shown were "Eaton's Santa Claus"
and "The Greatest Show on Earth".
Refreshments followed.
On Tuesday evening, the Ladies
Auxiliary presented their annual
Christmas party for the residents.
Carmel Sweeney, Mary Gingerich
and Ina Neeb each read a poem. Earl _
Oesch displayed some of his carv-
ings, and explained the procedures
taken for each one. Ina Neeb and
Mary Gingerich sang a duet and
Mary Lou Erb and Grace Martin
played a piano and organ duet.
Christmas carols were sung and
Santa Claus arrived distributing
gifts to each of the residents. A fes-
tive lunch was then served.
The sympathy of residents and
staff is extended to the family of the
late Dr. Chas. Toll.
Residents who were out recently
were Aaron Gingerich, Margaret
Snell, Alice Ferg, Matilda Bassow,
Violet Huntley, Jean Levine and
William Ziler.
We welcome Mrs. Irene Baxter as
a new resident to the Home. She
was formerly from Grand Bend.
Mr. George Grenier is still a pa-
tient in University Hospital, Lon-
don.
Bingo was played on Friday even-
ing followed by refreshments.
The Sunday evening chapel ser-
vice was Conducted by Mr. Merlin
Bender of the Conservative Men-
nonite Church, Blake.
