WMS hears about experiences
The Women's Ministries held
their Christmas meeting at the
home of Mrs. Marti Butler. Mrs.
Judi Ross led in chorus singing ac-
companied by Mrs. Butler playing
her guitar. Mrs. Marlene Thornton
taught a new chorus You Alone.
Mrs. Thornton ministered singing
Without You, and People Need the
Lord.
Mrs. Toni Davies, guest speaker,
stated to share has become a popular
expression. The greatest sharing is
sharing Jesus Christ. Christian
women are born to share, respond-
ing in love instead of duty. To be
effective is not to be affected by
wrong motives.
In 1985 Mr. and Mrs. Davies
went to Haiti as missionaries. The
conditions were so extremely poor
they shared their Christian experi-
ences with the people. They were
invited into homes to pray for the
people. While there they lived in a
hotel built as steps up the side of a
mountain. A shed was converted
into a kitchen for them to use. Mrs.
Davies went up the mountain one
day to visit a lady in a hut who
needed to learn how to exercise her
limbs.
Mrs. Davies had a Creole diction-
ary. Using it she sang a Christian
song for the lady and all who had
come into her hut. The Haitian peo-
ple shared plantain plants, eggs, and
even gave them live chickens. Mrs.
Davies closed reading a poem The
Value of a Smile.

President Mrs. June Henry con-
ducted the business session of the
meeting. Gifts were shared among
the ladies. A craft table with items
for sale was for proceeds to go to
help provide Christmas for children

The first Sunday in Advent, this
point in time, when we anticipate
with great joy the virgin birth, was
celebrated at Lucan United, Sunday
morning. Speaking of birth Rev.
Shaule dedicated a perfect little an-
gel, called "Cameron Stuart Daw-
son" during the service and after the
child, several new Bibles for the
sanctuary, as well as a very beauti-
ful brass lamp, in memory of Rev.
Jewell Shaule, whom the Lord took
home last March.
In his sermon, taken from John's
gospel chapter one, Rev. Shaule
said "Jesus was not just a sweet
baby" but part of the God -head. The
word God made Him human, sub-
ject to the same temptations and
imperfections of nature as man, but
with one unique difference. He was
sinless and eternal.
The perfect Christmas gift to
mankind. Wrapped up in this gift
was "Life and Light" - Jesus the
Resurrection and the life and the
light of the world. If you want to
live forever, plan to treat yourself to
this special gift. Make this the best
Christmas ever - eternal retirement -
reserve now.
The bazaar held Saturday after-
noon was reported to have been a
complete success.

in Haiti
Ladies enjoyed a Christmas lunch
after the meeting.
Bruce Thomson led the worship
service Sunday morning. He intro-
duced Bobby Michaels, guest solo -
list, from Youth With a Mission.
Michaels started his ministry of
song singing Worthy. He then
taught a new song Oh The Glory of
Your Presence.
Michaels said he won't be enjoy-
ing a white Christmas, as he will
be ministering in South Africa,
where it is summer. He sang a song
Time, based on Ecclesiastes 3:1-14
and told of a teacher in Hawaii who
had a pile of rocks on his balcony
that were a symbolic memory of
God's provision for him over the
years.
The professor praised God for
what each reminded him of God's
blessings. Mr. Michaels stated even
in bad times we can give God a sac-
rifice of praise. God inhabits the
praises of His people.
Mr. Michaels taught the song
Brand New Day. From several scrip-
ture verses he stressed God is faith-
ful before singing My Redeemer is
Faithful and True.
Doug Butler led the singing Sun-
day evening. Rev. Roger Mason
spoke from mark 8:22-26, the only
record of Jesus praying twice for
this blind man. The main principle
was that people brought this blind
man to Jesus. Christians can bring
sick people to Jesus in praying for
them. Because there are so many
remedies today people are thinking
the little illnesses can be alleviated
by them. Then severe illnesses like
cancer seem too big to pray for. But
God can heal them all. Jesus wants
to heal us from our sicknesses.
