Irish drop tough gam
Lucan Irish lost a gut-wrencher to
Mount Brydges Saturday when they
failed to match two third period
goals in an otherwise even game.
Irish lost 4-2.
Mount Brydges took the lead just
31 seconds into the game after Mike
Rosborough scored from Brad Dal-
ton and Don Gibson.
Lucan tied the game at one when
Mike Hirtzell scored from Todd
Hayter and Ian Craig at 2:19.
The two teams finished the period
with that score intact.
In the second, a goal by Mark
Campbell put Mount Brydges out
in front again after six minutes of
play.
Lucan 'held their own on the ice
and, with five minutes left in the
second it paid off. Scott Denomy
found the mark after he picked up a
pass from Joe Fcbrey and Jamie
Greig.
Crunchers
grab tie
Exeter Crunchers played well on
Saturday tieing the visiting Ilderton
team 3-3.
Two lead goals by Ilderton went
unanswered until 6:18 of the second
period when Geoff Hann notched they
first Exeter goal in an unassisted ef-
fort.
Ilderton responded in the third per-
iod to make the score 3-1.
Exeter showed persistence and
with 1:20 left in the game, Geoff
Hann scored an unassisted goal.
The final crunch of the game
camc when Andrew Hem scored on
a pass from Willy Partridge and Ja-
son Keller to even the score at three
each.
Consistently good play was made
by everyone on the team, especially
by the defence and goalie Michael
Schwindt.
Crunchers will travel to Belmont
for their next game.
The two teams entered the third
period in a 2-2 deadlock.
A momentary lapse however, cost
Lucan the game.
Paul Hodgins scored at 5:11 and
then Tim Ross put the puck in the
net at 5:26.
Lucan was unable to recover.
