new set of officers

Sixteen member answered the roll
call on Remembrance at the No-
vember meeting of the Marian
Ritchie WMS on Tuesday evening.
Mary Elliott presided and opened
with a reading on thanksgiving. Joy
Scott read scripture from Matthew 5
and gave a meditation on the beati-
tude, Blessed are the peacemakers.
In her topic on the price of freedom,
she pointed out that freedom is not
a gift, but an achievement. It was
not won; it was earned.
Betty Lou Norris conducted the
business when it was decided to
hold the December meeting a week
earlier, on December 8 at 8 p.m.
Plans were also made to participate
in the plowing match in Perth by
providing craft articles for prizes in
the ladies' program. Members will
also assist in serving lunch at Tom
Scott's 90th birthday party on No-
vember 29.
Following the regular meeting
Mrs. Norris presided for the annual
meeting. The treasurers annual re-
port , given by Mary Elliott,
showed that the allocation of
S 1,600. had been sent to the Pres-
byterial treasurer. Reports were also
given by Joy Scott, Edna Stone-
man, Doris Miller, Ruth Laing and
Jean Carey.
The slate of officers for 1988 was
read by Joy Scott as follows: pres. -

When the Hibbert United Church
Women met for their regular meet-
ing it was Remembrance Day and
they were led in suitable meditation
and prayer by Jay Dearing and Ada
Petchick.
After leading all in a service of
worship and recall, they were assist-
ed by Margaret Christie in present-
ing a film strip, "Farming here and
in Africa".
Business for the day with chair-
man Margaret Daynard, included the
receiving of the nominating com-
mittee's report given by Marg F.
Dow, plus plans for Christmas re-
membrances and decorations.
Donations of money were made to
Alma College, Optimism Place and
Drug and Alcohol concerns. The
meeting was closed with a poem of
remembrance and faith, prepared and
given by Margaret Kemp.
Hostesses Helen Fell and Wilma
Buston invited all to enjoy a deli-
cious lunch
Hibbert United Church Women
members and friends were busy-
quilting
usyquilting every Tuesdaythis season.
Doris Miller visited Sunday with
Robert and Ken Simpson, London.
Karla Bennewies was a Friday

night guest of Tara Dow and Adam
