Two different views of Remembrance Day
Dear Editor.
I would like to take this opportu-
nity to thank you and the rest of the
staff at the TA, particularly Yvonne
Reynolds, for the generous support
and coverage we received, for our
ADAPT program. We are most ap-
preciative of the coverage provided
by the TA for the high school.
Once again, thanks very much.
Yours truly,
Terry ORourke.

Dear Sir.
Remembrance Day in Hensall
will not be forgotten for a long
time for us, who care about the real
meaning of the day.
In my opinion, it was a disgrace,
the hymns in the church were not
appropriate, then while we were
marching back to the cenotaph, our
heroes were serenaded with Christ-
mas Carols from our marvellous
Town Clock.
Our Reeve was in the parade and
should have been informed by one
of our members that out of respect
for our war heroes, the above so
called clock should have been silent
also.
A car was parked in front of the
cenotaph and one would have ex-
pected the on duty O.P.P. officer to
have it moved down the street. I
lost 'an uncle whose name is en-
graved on Hensall's cenotaph, my
father was in World War 1 and one
brother in World War II and also the

Crunchers
Despite an earlier 10-2 Loss in a
tough game against the Parkhill

played a valiant effort at home Sat-

Parkhill started the scoring with a
goal by Jason Morley from Mike
Van Der Hloet.
Exeter answered in the second per-
iod with an unassisted shorthanded
goal off the stick of Geoff Hann and
very shortly after, Hann pegged his
second goal with the assist going to
Scott Inson.

Dear Sir
The same as last year, I journeyed
to the high school for their
"Remembrance Day" ceremony in
the auditorium.
Again, it was a memorable occa-
sion, well presented by students to
an attentive, well -disciplined student
body. Not as impressive as last
year, which is a service I shall al-
ways remember; it was nonetheless
sincere.
As we stood with bowed heads,
the names of local servicemen who
died in the two world wars and Ko-
rea were read aloud. I'm sure those
who paid the supreme sacrifice for
their loved ones did not think as
they marched away to war, that their
memory would be preserved all
those many years later.
It was a. touching thought and re-
inforced by the sweet trembling of
the "Last Post", well played by a
young member of the school band.
Principal Bruce Shaw, staff and stu-
dents are to be congratulated.
I think more people should wit-
ness this annual event played out by
crunched
in the second to tie the game on a
goal from John Vandenhoevel with
assists to Rudy Van Hooydonk and
Dave Hendrikx:
Parkhill notched a go-ahead goal
near the end of the third period from
Morley, assisted by Kelly McAdam
but Exeter answered that goal with
an unassisted goal off the stick of
Willy Partridge.
With 43 seconds remaining in the
game, Parkhill took the lead on a
powerplay goal from Hendrikx, as-
sisted by Van Hooydonk and Exeter
was unable to respond as time ran
out.
Crunchers showed determination
in a well played and hard fought
game.
Next game is Wednesday, when
the Crunchers travel to Muncey.
Canada's young. I'm glad they still
remember!

Dear Editor.
The Exeter Pathfinders are con-
cerned. We went on a mini tour up
Main Street, in a wheelchair to see
what it's like. We found that people
in wheelchairs couldn't get in most
stores or up and down curbs without
help.
For example they couldn't get in
the library, town hall (to see the
Mayor or pay taxes) or the P.U.C.
(to pay their water bill). Some of
the newer stores have ramps and the
doors open the right way.
