Dave Bogart's ten game plan is
going better than could be expected.
Exeter Hawks played four games
in five nights last week, emerging
from the first part of Bogart's sec-
ond ten game block of Junior D ac-
tion with four wins:
Hawks started the week with a 9-3
romp over Belmont, added a 5.3 win
over Mitchell, forced a 12-1 humili-
ation against Clinton and wrapped
up the weekend with a 6-4 frolic
over Seaforth.
Bogart couldn't be happier.
"They're going better than I had
anticipated," he said. "I knew at the
beginning of the season that we had
a good team but I didn't think we'd
be sitting with a 13 -two and one
record"
Bogart noted that after Saturday's
game, some minor disciplinary
problems began to crop up -- the re-
sult of three easy wins. A tough
Sunday morning practice quickly
remedied that, however.
The four game frenzy was also
costly in terms of bodies,
Hawks lost George Pratt for two
weeks with bruised knee ligaments,.
acquired after an opponent deliverco
a vicious chop with a stick. They

also will be without the talents of
Brent Nairn and Jeff Ansems. Nairn
will be out of the line-up for a week
with a bruised shoulder while An-
sems is expected to miss four weeks
because of a separated shoulder.
Belmont fell easily to Exeter
Wednesday night.
Hawks grabbed the lead with the
only goal of the first period when
Mark Morrissey scored from Geoff
Slater.
Belmont tied it six ,minutes into
the second but Exeter re -took the
lead 16 seconds later when Scott
Bogart scored from Scott Lovie.
Not to be out -done, Belmont
evened the score again just 23 sec-
onds later when Howard Hunt scored
on a power play.
Steve Gould scored unassisted at
the half -way mark of the second to
re-establish Exeter in the lead.
SCRAMBLE FOR THE PUCK Exeter Hawks try to shovel the
puck into the net during a Junior D game against Scaforth in Hensall Sun-
day night. Hawks managed to beat the Seaforth goalie enough times to
pull out a win, but the net minder made it frustrating at times. Hawks .
played four games in five nights, winning each game decisively.
Mohawks trip over Palmerston,
Despite a 6-6 stumble against
Palmerston Friday night, Exeter
Mohawks remain undefeated this
season after tucking game nine un-
der their collective belt Sunday with
a 7-3 win over Durham Huskies.
Mohawks coach Jim Guenther
said Sunday that there were two ma-
jor factors in the 6-6 tie: the fact
that Palmerston has upgraded their
standard of play and the fact that
Mohawks skated onto the ice "flat".
"We were lucky in a way to sal-
vage a tie," Guenther said, but added
"We showed a little backbone in the
third."
Guenther said the tic will serve a
purpose.
It wasn't a bad time to happen,"
he said. "It was maybe a way of
testing the guys -- not being the
victors."
"But as you can see, they reacted
tonight."
Mohawks took control of Sun-
day's game in the first period, accu-
mulating a 4-1 lead. They let Dur-
ham slide to within two goals in
the second, but quickly corrected the
score, heading into the third with a
6-3 lead.
One goal in the third cemented the
win.
"I expected Durham to be a little
more aggressive than they were,"
Guenther said. "I thought they'd use
the body more -- in their tradition --
hut we used the body on them."
Jeff Warren started the scoring
just 31 seconds into the game with
a goal from Quincy Wilker and
Dave Randerson.
Huskies evened the score at 12:30
whcn Brad Law beat Exeter goalie
Rick Pickul.
At 13:38 Randy Bailey found the
mark, scoring on a pass from Kris
Bedard and Dale l immcrmans.
Bill Glover maintained the pace,
scoring from Bailey at 16:04 and
Brian Mercer connected with John
Kernick and Warren at 18:54 to give
Exctcr four goals.
A short handed, unassisted goal
by Bailey at the 4:31 mark of the
second seemed to continue the trcnd
but two quick Durham goals by
Bob Sullivan (during a power play)
and Greg McFadden at 14:28 and
14:59, changed the shape of the
game.
Wilker potted a confidence -crusher
at 16:26, restoring Exeter's three
goal lead and stealing Durham's mo-
mentum. Randerson and Al Gates
assisted on the play.
Mohawks had an opportunity in
the third when they were awarded a
penalty shot for a throw. Durham

talize on it.

Exeter 12 - Clinton 1
As it has been in the past for Ex-
eter, Saturday's game against Clin-
ton Mustangs was simply an exer-
cise in finding the net.
Taking a 4-0 lead in the first, they
increased it to 6-1 in the second and
added six more goals in the third.
Pfaff picked up three goals and
one assist over the course of the
evening to lead his team offensive-
ly.

esting in Sunday's game against
Seaforth when they came up against
a hot goaltender. Scaforth's Bill Tre-
meer repelled 44 Exeter shots over
the course of the night, making
some spectacular saves along the
way and getting help from the goal
posts on more than one occasion.
Exeter's Derck Martin also had a
busy night. He made 38 saves.
'Tom McCann started things off
for Hawks at 4:43 of the first witha
goal on a pass from Morrissey and
Casey, but Scaforth grabbed the lead
