Shipka hunters successful

"Open House" 80th birthday party
for Mrs. Pearl Miller; of Dashwood,
Sunday November 8, at Dashwood
Community Centre.
Hunters in this area bagged a good
number of dccr, during the hunting
season recently.
Sandra and Tony Regicr; Chris
Heather and Jill of Detroit, visited
Sunday with Sandra's parents, Ken
and Ortha Baker. Other Sunday drop
in visitors with the Bakers were Or-
tha's sisters, Elsie and Jake Redcr,
Bayfield, Marg and Bob Reid of
Varna.
Joris and Rachel Wood, of Grand
Shuffleboard
The Exeter Shuffleboard club met
for two series Thursday afternoon.
Ross Richardson led a five game
mixed play series with 426. He was
followed by Olive Esscry with 398.
Ray Cottle took third spot with
381 and S. Gasar rounded out the
group with 341.
Ross Marshall took high score in
a four game series Thursday, scor-
ing 362 to put Phil Hcm ini second
spot with 302.
Edna Caldwell "scored 300 to
clinch third place while Bea Johns
placed fourth with 296.
Bend area, spent the weekend with
their cousin Michelle, and aunt and
uncle, Willis and Ella Desjardine.
Brock and Dianne Adams, Andrew
and Dean, of London, visited Sun-
day with the boys grandparents,
Don and Elizabeth Adams and their
uncle Clark.
Barbara, Gerald and Scotty Hig-
don, of Rothsay, spent the weekend
with Beverley and John Keller,
Sherri -Lynn and Stephen.
The first euchre party.of this sea-
son will be held at Shipka Commu-
nity Centre Wednesday November
25. Watch for further notice next
week.
It was interesting to note in our
recent issue of "Especially for Sen-
iors", magazine, that it's circulation
is one of the largest in Canada; be-
ingrnailed to 917,225 Senior Citi-
zens in Ontario. It is issued quarter-
ly and celebrates its 50th issue this
fall. -The new minister for Senior
Citizens is Honorable Mavis Wil-
son,. appointed by Premier David
Peterson.

Marie Chowen, of Stratford, former-
ly of Southcott Pines.

Glenn Kells and Brian Johnston,
secretary of the planning advisory
committee will be attending a semi-
nar on lot levies in Toronto on No-
vember 20. The seminar .is being
sponsored by the Association of
Municipalities of Ontario as lot le-
vies are becoming a developing is-
sue for many municipalities.
Some of the questions to be an-
swered will be, "What is a lot levy
or development charge?; What does
the law say?; Does the developer,
municipality or home buyer pay?

WINTER REPORT
The Ontario Ministry of Trans-
portation has announced that its
Winter Road Reporting Service for
the public went into operation No-
vember 9.
The Road Information Centre at
Toronto and the ministry's offices
throughout the province have up to
date information on the condition of
all provincial and secondary high-
ways 24 hours a day, seven days a --
week during the winter months.
