Kippen East W.I.
On Wednesday October 21, nine
Kippen East members and one guest
met at the "Sugar and Spice" in Ex-
eter. As we walked in the door that
delicious aroma of chocolates and
other stuff filled our nostrils. Needless
to say we alio filled the cosy little
store to capacity. Sherri Seldon, co-
owner and operator, welcomed us and
explained about the goodies in the
store, mentioning that she doesn't
make room for.anything that doesn't
appeal to her.
The interesting plates, dolls, soft
toys, candies, nuts and chocolates
captivated us all. We reluctantly left
that fascinating store by the back way
to make our way around to the
chocolate factory. The aroma in there
was equally satisfying and Sherri's
husband Paul was busy overseeing a
hatch of chocolate:coated hazelnut
clusters.
After sampling some of the goodies
we were treated to a delicious cup of
hazelnut coffee. Thea Wisch thanked
Sherri Seldon and presented her with
a gift as token of our appreciation. We
then motored back to the home of the
hostess Grace Eyre.
President Grace Drummond open
ed with two readings "Peanut Facts
in a Nutshell" and "A Description of
Todays Senior Citizen". Grace also
gave the report of the area convention
which she attended in Stl Marys on
October_15 and 16.
Mona Alderdice gave a humorous
reading on dieting from the book
"Bumps In Your Coveralls".
Everyone remembered to wear her
institute pin so no 25 cent fines were
paid.
Members were asked to bring a
plastic grocery bag to the next
meeting in preparation for the fashion
show in December.
A delicious lunch was provided by
Rena Caldwell, with Grace Eyre and
Phyllis Parsons serving tea.
Kippen United Church
Barbara Cooper accompanied the
hymns on the organ at St. Andrews
Church in Kippen on Sunday October
25. Rev. Lorne Keays' sermon was -en-
titled "When We Need To Feel
Guilty".
There will be no church service on
Sunday, November 1 at St. Andrews
Kippen. The Kippen congregation are
invited to join in with Brucefield
United Church for their anniversary
service at 11 a.m. Guest preacher will
be the Rev. Cher)ll-Ann Stadelbauer-
Sampa of Egonondville United
Church. Special music by the Snell
Family Singers. ' Everyone is
welcome to attend.
Kippen's annual fall supper will be
held Wednesday November 11 from 5
to 8 p.m. Advance tickets only. These
may be purchased from U.C.W.
metnbers.
Kippen 111 4-11
- The "Munch Bunch" consists of 11
members of Kippen III 4-H club, led
by Barbara Moffat and Jantet Pap-
ple. On October 30 at the 4-H Awards
Night in Clinton they will receive a
trophy for their exhibit which gained
top prize at the Seaforth Fair.
Achievement Night for the
members and leaders is on Tuesday
November 24 at the Varna Complex.
Personals -
Mattie McGregor has now been
transferred to Seaforth General
Hospital. - The Kippen community
wishes her a speedy recovery.
