Waxers win two in exhibition
Exeter Novice Waxers put two win-
ning efforts together in exhibition
play on the weekend, defeating
•Seaforth 2-1 and downing Mitchell 6-1.
Saturday, Waxers came up against
a well matched Seaforth team.
Neither squad was able to put a mark
on the board until Waxers
defenceman Eric Clay rushed up the
ice alone and scored. unassisted at
8:26.
Seaforth was unable to match thio
point in the second.
Jeff MacLean scored from Chad
Gilfillan and Ryan Beckett with 7:25
remaining in the game, giving Exeter
some insurance.
Just over one minute late.
Seafort h's Pat Coyne scored
' unassisted. raining Waxers goalie
Jason Lindenfield's shut out and keep-
ing the game close. hut Exeter hung
onto the narrow lead and pulled out
the win.
1.indenfield held Mitchell to just one •
goal Sunday night in a battle which
started with a scoreless first period.
Dave Farquhar got things rolling
for Exeter early in the second period
Lucan Novices
Lucan Novices picked up.two wins
this week in Shamrock action, shut-
ting out Thamesford 6-0 Saturday and
then ddwning London Major Novices
3-1 Sunday afternoon.
Josh Appleman came up with four
goals in the effort against
Thamesford.
Lucan took a 1-0 lead in the first
period after Appleman back -handed
a shot over the Thamesford goalie.
Assists on the play went to Marty Mit-
chell and Marty McLaughlin. '
Ryan Carroll made it 2-0 in the se-
cond when he scored from a faceoff
in Thamesford's end. •
In the third period, Appleman came
on strong, scoring two goals
unassisted just 15 seconds apa t.
Appleman scored his fourth goallof
the night on a pass from Curtis Har-
dy and Mike Brady.

Sunday's match, against London
was a tighter. rougher game.
• Again Lucan took a 1-0 Lead in the
first period: this time after Jesse
Waters scored from Wragg.
In the second period. Jeremy
Brown rattled a hard shot off both
London goal posts to put the puck in
the net. Waters drew the lone assist
Appleman, set upon a break -away
by Wragg, went in on the London
goalie and deked him smartly to score
goal number three for Lucan.
England was working on his second
shut out of the weekend until. with
just two minutes remaining in the
game. London's Chris Goss scored.
Molting Hawks win
Exeter Molting - Hawks went to
Huron Park Arena to play Stephen
Twp. Oldtimers, a newly formed
team.
The score was "13-2 for Exeter.
Exeter scorers were Keith Ahrens
(51, Scott Burton (4), Ken Bergmann
(1), Walt Tiedeman (1), Pete McFalls
(1), Jim Pfaff (1).
Stephen Twp. scorers were Rick
Funston and Al Hartford.
South-west London Old Tractors
were in town on Monday night in a
well played game. The score was 9-4
for Exeter.
Exeter scorers were Ken
Bergmann (4), Bob Jones (2), Bob
McDonald (1). Keith Ahrens (1), Jim
Empringham (11. No. 18 Paul Coffey
(4 assists).
Glen Stires played well in net.
Molting Hawks next game is Thurs-
day night at London Gardens when
they take on London Firehirds.

Then at 6:37, Beckett beat the Mit-
chell goalie to score on a pass from
Clay.
A penalty shot was given to Exeter
and taken by Soldan who easily found
the mark, making it 5-0.
At 8:32, Mitchell made their only
statement of the'} game when Jeff
Brodhagen scored unassisted,.
Exeter hadan answer for that goal.
Lynn pumped in Waxers sixth goal off
rite stick of Hann to finalize the win.
Waxers have a record of three wins.
two losses and two ties in regular
season action.
McCann notches 4 goals for Atoms
Led by the prolific scoring of Sean
McCann, Exeter Atoms ran wild over
Parkhill Sunday, defeating then) 7-0.
McCann scored four goals and pick-
ed up one assist in the effort, helping
the team to a record of four wins and
two losses. In the last six games,
McCann has amassed 12 goals.
Steve Stire also put on a great show
for the team. He was credited with
four assists over the course of the
night.
Darren Kints was in goal for the
shut out,
McCann opened the game with an
unassisted goal at 1:10 and then went
on a rampage, scoring at 2:26 from
Malt Godbolt. 7:02 from Stire, and at
5:0:3 of the second. Stire assisted on
i tcCann's fourth goal as well.
Trevor Truentner scored his first of
Iwo that night when he connected with
St ire and NIc('atm at 7:32 of the
second.
A goal by Gavin Snell from Ian
Jean and Steve ('ook gave Exeter a
6-0 lead and then Truemner finished
the game svith a goal at 9:15•of the
third with assists going to Stire and
Godbolt
Exeter Atoms pulled out a closer
win against Lambeth Wednesday
night in, what was described as the
team's best game of the season.

Lambeth carried that lead into the
second period but an unassisted goal
by McCann evened. the score with 7:24
remaining in the second.
Lambeth re -took the lead with just
over one minute left in the period.
• Exeter look control of the game in
the final period. McCann scored alter
two minutes of play from Marty
DeBruyn and Jamie Van Dam and
then scored again at 10:25 to give
himself the hat trick. DeBruyn drew
the lone assist.
Lambeth threatened late in the
third with anothergoal, but Exeter
hung on for the win.
ATV Charnpionships held
The weather co-operated on Sunday
at the Ontario A.T.V. championships
hosted by !fully Gully, but the track
had to be changed because of rain last
. week. Things dried out Sunday and
the track shaped up well for final On-
tario all terrain vehicle associates for
the 87 season.
Riders from across Ontario par-
ticipated in the event.
Local riders had their hands full,.
competing for money, and trophies
and valuable OATVA points.
Local rider Doug Wolf of Mitchell
on his 'fully Gully Honda TRX 250 RG
had a good run, finishing fourth in the
four wheel -two-stroke modified race
and coming back finishing fourth in
the Open - modified two stroke.
The other local rider was Chuck
Collins of Varna who rode in "four
Mods" -class. Collins rode his [fully
Gully Honda ATC 200XG to second
place in Open Mod - four Stroke and
third in the three wheel,•four-stroke
Mod. Ile also rode a If -G Honda ATC
250RG to first in the three wheel, two-
stroke Mod aril fifth in the Open Mod
two-stroke. .

The 'fully Gully invitational Grass
Drags are scheduled for this
weekend. They will be highlighted by
a special Hallowe'en intermission.
• Racers competing in all classes
from crate to super modified with
speeds reaching a 100 M.P.H. will he
- featured on the 50(1 foot grass course.
The first interrnission will feature
a Hully-Gully Ilallowe'en scary race.
The race, which is open to anyone
interested, . will feature costumed
riders.
