He was there competing at the Halifax Winter Exhibition Grounds in the Eastern Canadian Stock Horse Championships. Brian and his registered quarter horse My Sweet Command, affec- 'tionately known] at home as Mare, compete throughout Ontario at Quarter Horse Shows in pole bending and barrel racing. The Ontario Equestrian Federation chose some of these shows as quali- fying shows for the Ontario Heritage Classic. Brian did well at these qualifying shows and was invited to compete at the Ontario Heritage show which was held in August at Humber College in Toronto. This show was to pick a team of five adults and seven youths from - all over Ontario to compete as a team in interprovincial competition. Brian placed first in polebending and second in barrel racing qualify- ing him for the team. It was this team that travelled to Halifax. Brian com- peted against some of the best from Quebec, New Brunswick, Y.E.I. and Nova Scotia. He was disappointed with his run in the barrel race as he knocked down a barrel which put him out of the top' placings. However. he put together a good run in polebending and came home with the championship. The next stop for the Ontario Heritage team is Saskatchewan next spring of which Ropp hopes to be part of.
