Three meetings
of 4-H club
The first three meetings of 'the
Hurondale I club wereheld at Mary
Gardiner's with all members present.
We nominated our officers who are as
follows: Sheila Dougall is President.
Jennifer Dalrymple is Vice President,
and Lori Parker is 'Secretary.
During these three meetings we
talked about snacking, fresh, raw.
and frozen vegetables, and ways of
cooking vegetables.
At each of these meetings we made
a snack of fruits or vegetables. which
we all enjoyed.
Second meeting
At the second meeting of the Huron -
dale II 4-H club we decided on the club
name. Since there are eight members
We thought. that '4The V'8's" would be
a good' name.
We•made two batches of apple pan-
cakes, both batches turned out good,
although one group made a slight
mistake, but surprisingly it tasted
okay.
Roll call was to pick canned and
frozen vegetables your family eats.
We also did a sheet on fancy, stan-
dard, and choice. We had a taste -test
to see if we could tell the different
kinds of apple juices. The meeting
was adjourned by Sally Bolt.
• Meeting three.
The V8's meeting three was lield-at
the home of Sheryl Oke. Roll call was
to. show the advertisement, you
designed for - Ontario Fruits and
Vegetables. We learned the proper
way of boiling vegetables. We also
tried three different kinds of carrots,
done in parsley, nutmeg, and basil.
Most preferred parsley.
We learned the steps in stir -frying.
There was also a cross -word puzzle
for us to do. The meeting was ad-
journed by Tara Hunking.
F- ourth meeting
The V -8's fourth meeting was held
at Sally Bott's house. Thanks to the
• covering group we got our title page.
Roll call was name your favorite On-
tario fruits. Strawberries and peaches
were preferred most. -
We also made "Fruit Sparkle
Sauce" which was made from fruit
cocktail. We poured it over vanilla ice
cream; not too many liked it. The
meeting was adjourned by Mary -
Lynn Oke. The next meeting will be
Thursday October 22 at the home of
Wendy Ballantyne.
