Exeter lost game one in Strathroy 2-0 after darkness brought on an ear - ly finish. Paul Gilmour went the distance on the mound for Express. He turned in an admirable performance, striking out three batters and allowing only four hits. Unfortunately„the Exeter • offence couldn't come up with anything at bat to support Gilmour on the mound. It wasn't until the last in- ning of the game that Exeter manag- ed to get a hit. Dave Bogart singled and then stole second before Kevin Drager was struck out to end the game. Exeter scored their only run of the series in the first of two games Sun- day, but lost at the hands of Strathroy pitcher John Bruijns - formerly of the Exeter Express.
