Seated on the right is association president Judi Jennison, with supporters Zavier Boogemaris and Joe Green drawing the winning ticket. Beth's prize is worth over $1100.00 and she pledges to donate some of it back to the Grand Bend Minor Baseball league. Varna Dreamers are 'A' champs By Joan Beierling To end the ball news for this season there is more good news. The Dreamers played in their tournament in Vanastra and finished 'A' Cham- pions! They won over Londesboro first, Clinton Mustangs second and Holmesville was the team they beat for the final. Shower A Russell family shower for Carol Miller and Paul Desloges was held at Ivan and Marg McClymont's house on Sunday September 6 with 60 people attending. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Don Barker spent a few days last week with Ivan and Marg McClymont and visited with friends and relatives in the area. Mr. and Mrs. Al Hoggarth and daughter Janet from Kippen and Mrs. Violet Ashard and Mrs. Janet Holl- ingsberry from near London, England were visitors at Barry Cleave's last week. Bill McAsh has underwent surgery and been in the hospital for some time but has returned home on Sunday. We wish Bill a speedy recovery since returning home. The children are all back in school again for another year. B.J. Coultis, Brian Webster and Cara Stephenson started kindergarten. Jason McAsh and Paul Hill have just entered high school and Doug Roy is going to Fan- shawe College. Thursday, September 17 Youth Group I meets in Varna at 7 p.m. for soccer and some discussion. Sunday, September 20 is Varna's Anniversary Service at 11 a.m. It will be a combined service. The speaker will be Mr. Earl Pitts, A Youth With A Mission administrator -teacher. The special music is by the "Vocal Agree- ment", part of the Seaforth Barber- shop Group. There will be a special program planned for children eight and under. Sunday September 27 services will resume as usual. Mt. Carmel The first fall meeting of the Mount Carmel C.W.L. was held September 8, opening with a prayer by Fr. G. Goyeau. Twenty-nine members and four guests were present. Summer events were discussed and the new agenda for the coming year was presented. Theresa Larkin gave a report on the national convention which was held in London and Theresa McCann reported on the provincial convention held at Niagara Falls. Kathy Gielen is organizing a Sun- day School for children age three years to Grade two to be held each Sunday morning. Wednesday, October 14 is the date for the deanery meeting to be held at St. Brigid's in Lagan, Ontario. A number of ladies were presented with C.W.L. plates in honour of their 25th anniversaries. Theresa Larkin thanked all members and all the ladies of the parish for their time, effort and dona- tions for the Centennial Celebrations and F'riedsburg Days. F'r. Goyeau thanked the ladies fo his Spiritual Directors Pin and als for their help during the past sun mer's events and for the new Altar Repose in Our Lady of Mt. Carni Church.
