Shuffleboard
Shuffleboard opened for the new
season September 9 and 10 at the
Canadian Legion.
The general meeting and election of
officers was postponed until
September 16 at 1 p.m. due to small
attendance.
• High score in the ladies division
Thursday was Jean 'fern with 243 and
Olive Essery with 225.
High male scorer was Albert•Hurn-
mel with 219 and Charles Hendy who
scored 158.

Lieury Peewee boys take championship
The Lieury Peewee boys had an ex-
cellent ball season.
The Lieury team won the semi-
finals. in two straight games against
East Williams.
The first game of the finals, the best
three out of five, was won by Grand
Bend with a score of 6-5. The second
game also went to Grand Bend 6-0.
The third game was played at Grand
Bend with the Lieury team coming
alive in the third inning and winning
the game 9-7. The fourth game was
close with Lieury winning 11-10.
. The fifth and deciding game was on
September 10 at Grand Bend. Lieury
captured the championship with a
score of 15-5. •
A strong• series was pitched by
Jainie Tweddle, going the distance in
each game. -
The team was made up of a great
group of young men namely, Lorne
Bieirling, Shawn Doerr, Jamie
Eagleson, Pat Edwards. Chris
Hodgins; Allan Kohut, Craig Lees,
Eddie Skinner. Greg Thompson.
Justin Turnbull, Jamie Tweddle and
Paul Woodburn.
EDGE GROWLERS — The Grand Bend Grizzlies won the Lake Huron
slo-pitch tournament on the weekend by edging the Growlers 11-10.
The Grizzlies lost their first game to the Mariners, but fought back
for the final. Members include in the back row, Graham Kobe, Stan
Lovie, Steve Riddell, Jim Lovie, and Buddy Richardson. Centre row
Richard Brown, Randy Lovie, Bob Lovie and Darryl Gill. In the front
is Terry Brown, Larry Lovie, Eric Tadgell, and Daniel Gill, with bat-
boy Jonathon Lovie holding trophy.

Lieury pee wee team defeated
Grand Bend in their fifth game
last Thursday in the resort. In the

Ironwood men
Jack Fuller led the Ironwood men's
club in their final meeting of the sum-
mer Tuesday when the group was
sponsored by Sherwood Farm
Equipment. Stan Frayne's and
Algoma Tire. Fuller recorded a low
gross of 36 to beat Stu Homuth in 'A'
flight.
Low net in 'A' flight was captured
by Don Cowan who shot a 33 to beat
Brian Taylor.
Orval Rinn shot a 39 to take top
honours in 'B' flight. He was follow-
ed by Wayne Pearce.
Low net honours in 'B' flight were
won by Norm Whiting who turned in
a 32 to edge out Frank Dubarry.
Jim Gilchrist dominated 'C' flight
with a 41, beating Bill Steele for low
gross. Divisional low net was award-
ed to Lee Webber who scored 31 to
beat John Maurer.
Ken Herman captures 'D' flight by
turning in a 41. Andy Deboer followed
Herman. Gus Gregus shot a 31 to take
low net in 'D' flight.
Don Cowan was closest to the pin on
number two while Larry Brosel came
nearest to the pin on number seven.

Tuesday evening the season of the l
Exeter Ladies organized golfing
wound up.
• A good number of golfers were out
in the morning and afternoon And en-
joyed a social game of golf -followed
by a lunch.
After lunch the trophies and prizes
were awarded to the following: Win-
ner of A Flight - Helen Burton,
Runner -Up - Bette Smith.
Winner of B Flight - Helen
Wasnidge, Runner -Up - Jean Smith.
Winner of C Flight - Jean Little,
Runner -Up - Jean Crerar.
Cathy Bell received a trophy for the
most improved golfer and a gift of ap-
preciation was given to Shirley
Bileski.
The new executive was chosen for
next year after which a few games of
progressive euchre were played.
Prizes for euchre were won by Bet-
ty Coates, Helen Burton, Dorothy
Marks, Dorothy Kipfer and Jean
Crerar.
