AUCTIONEER • APPRAISERS Bruce Rathwell - Auctioneer Hensall flower show The Hensall and District Hor- ticulturlal Society held its second an- nual flower show at Hensall United Church Wednesday. Mary Kinsman, secretary - treasurer of the society, believes this year's show had attracted more ex- hibitors than last year. She agreed that while the hall in the church was not as brightly -lit as she would like for a flower show, she was pleased with the support the church continues to show for their organiza- tion which meets there. This year's show awarded the same prizes from the society as last year for the winners in each category: 75 cents for first, and 50 cents and 25 cents for second and third. However, Kinsman noted that prizes donated privately by area businesses were far more numerous than in the first show. The donated prizes totalled 8193 in cash value, but several other gifts ranged from a winter jacket to a pail of ice cream. The Horticultural Society is respon- sible for the upkeep of the (lower gardens around Hensall and is com- prised of about 100 women and men from Hensall and neighboring communities. While the flower show was well - attended, Kinsman said that she o,Jesn't expect the show to -expand much beyond its present status as a small event to cap the society's year. , . `WOOMMiagsa.
