Scramble wraps up Ironwood Ladies
Air Canada sponsored the Texas
Scramble played August 31, as a
wrap-up for the Ironwood Ladies club.
The winning team after a putt -off
with a '37' was Doris Hackney, Dor-
cas Wein, Edith Boyle and Ginger
Weber. Also coming in with '37' was
the team of Pat Fletcher. Janet
Ifeaman, Susan Czypyha and Elaine
Skinner.
The closest to the pin on number
four was won by Viviene Cowan and
closest to the pin on number eight
with her second shot was won by Ruth
Mercer.
The golfers enjoyed a beef
barbecue following the Texas Scram-
ble. A trophy was presented to low
gross winners; A flight - Marlene Par-
sons ( 88); B f1ip�it) - Joan Heywood
(89); C flight - Betty Coates (105).
Low Net winners in each flight were
'A' - Karen Bowerman i 621; 'B'
Carolyn Gilfillan (65) and 'C' Louise
Pincombe (68). The most improved
golfer award was presented to Joan
,Heywood.
Exeter Ladies SIo-pitch
With the exception of one game, Ex-
eter Ladies Slo-pitch has wrapped up
its regular season schedule.
Downtown Dollies took the A group-
ing and Good Times finishing on top
of the B side.
The Sundowners and South Ifuron
Hospital face each other September
10 to decide who will capture second
and third place in the A division.
Exeter Inn-dianettes finished in
fourth place on the A side with
Albatross Angels and Big 0 Sockettes

On the B side, Huron Park Devils
took second place, Dan Brie Darlins
grabbed third. Electro-Lites fourth.
Cheers fifth and The Beaters manag-
ed sixth place.
The' roundup tournament takes
place September 11 and 12, with first
place in A meeting first place in B and
so on in the first round of games.
The tournament will wind up on
Saturday when the B final is played
at 6:00 p.m. and A final at 7:30 p.m.

There was a tie on the ringer board
shared by Janet Wedlake, Marlene
Parsons and Joan Heywood with a
score of 31. The door prize donated by
Noi thlander was won by Anne Prout.
The 1987 Ironwood Ladies club has
enjoyed a successful golfing season,

Soccer playoff
structure decided
In squirt play this week. two Exeter
teams saw action to decide the A and
B playoff structure.
Exeter I had no trouble disposing of
Nairn I by a 3-0 count. Exeter played
an excellent game and the score could
have been much higher.
Scoring for Exeter were Daryl
Parsons(2) and David Farquhar (1 ).
Sean Beattie, Michael Ford and
Jeremie Vanesbroeck each turned in
a good effort for Exeter.
Exeter III played Ilderton II. Ac-
cording to the standings, Exeter
should -have had no trouble winning
but Ilderton hada different opinion.
The Ilderton team played an excellent
game. Luke Sims scored the lone goal
for Exeter III. At the end of regula-
tion time the final score was 1-1. In the
overtime period Ilderton managed to
score and knock Exeter into the B
round of the playoffs.
In atom play. second place Exeter
I came up against last plate Nairn I
and had no trouble in reaching the A
round.
Marty DeBruyn•scored two early
goals and set up another as Exeter
coasted to a 7-0 victory. Other scorers
for Exeter were Chris McDonald, Jeff
Inch and Luke Sims.
The Exeter II atom team will play
their preliminary round next Monday
in Bryanston.
The only other game played this
week was a make up league game
between Exeter f and Exeter 11 in the
Mosquito division.
Exeter II continued their excellent
play of late and took a 1-0 lead in the
first half when Joel Campbell scored
direct from a corner kick. In the se-
cond half however Exeter I showed
why they ended up iri first place. They
scored four unanswered goals for a 4-1
final score. Scoring for Exeter were
Sivichay Sengkhounmany (3) and
Eugene Boersma

Merner again walked in the Exeter
third frame. Doug Schade was safe on
an error and both came around to
score.
Steve Neil led off the Exeter fourth
with a single. but was caught stealing.
Scott Miller followed with anotheF
one -base blow, Steve Verner drew his
third free pass of the game and both
completed the bases cycle.
The- championship trophy, was
presented to Kingsville captain Scott
Moore and coaches Ed Wellington
and John Rumble by John Hope and
Brad Gregus in particular for looking
after the tournament and keeping the
diamond in great shape and the Ex-
eter Optimists for their sponsorship.
