Hampered by the absence of some of the top players the team just could not put it together against a strong Ar- va team. Darryl Parsons and .Jackie Vanesbroeck played well for Exeter I. Delaware took a 2-0 lead in the first half, but Exeter managed to tie the game in the second. The final score was 2-2. up just short in a 4-3 loss. Scoring for Exeter were Sisavay Sengkhounmany, Amanda Houston and Mark D'Anna. In Bantam action. Exeter closed out the season with a 2-2 tie against Delaware. With forwards playing on defense and defenders playing forward for this game, Exeter had trouble putting together good passing"combinations. Delaware took a 2-0 first half lead but the Exeter boys and.girls fought back in the second half to gain the tie. Scoring for Exeter were Brent Bell and Henri Debruyn. • Jason McFalls played well as a utility goalkeeper. The Bantams have now finished their regular season. The bantam Ironwood ladies Pat Fletcher won closest to the pin on Number 4 and Liz Hodgins won longest drive on Number 5 in Iron- wood ladies club action this week. On August 19, Lucan Mosquito boys hosted a formidable St. Columban team. Lucan, having lost earlier in the season to St. Columban, was eager to play the re -match and started strongly. Two goals by Brian Heckman and one by Nathan Brown. gave Lucan a 3-0 lead by half-time. Lucan then shifted intefa more defen- sive style of game. Excellent performances by Matt Munro and Shaun Fairweather at mid -field and Jason Dayman in goal, plus over-all effort and determination by the entire ucan team resulted in a final score of 3-0 over St. Columban: LucanPeewee boys also hosted a St. Columban team but the outcome was different. Play was elose in the first half after St. Columban took a 2-1 lead. Lucan's goal was scored by Jason Dukeshire. Jason Burgess tied. the game at 2-2 in the second half but St. Columban scored three more times. Juvenile girls Exeter Juvenile girls jumped out to a great start in their best -of -three playoff series against Strathroy when they handed their opponents a 25-8 rout in game one. Shelley Skinner was the starting pitcher for Exeter. Kelly Whiteford relieved her in the second and then proceeded to strike out ten batters in the next four innings. She also pick- ed off two more players for outs in the regular course of the game. Lee O'Rourke scored five runs in six attempts at bat and hit a home run. Jodi McBride went five -for -five at bat and Sherry Kerslake went five - for -six. The winner of this series will ad- vance to meet the winner of a best -of- - three series between Poplar Hill and West Williams. -The final will be a best -of -five series. A Lucan rally sparked by goals from Len Carter and Jason Dukeshire almost caught St. Columban but the game ended with a 5-4 score in St. Col- umban's favour. Mike Van Bussel played very well for Lucan. In Peewee girls action, Lucan Leprechauns defeated London's Oak McGuinness by a score of 4-0. Two goals by Tanya Reymer and one goal each by Amy Sullivan and Nancy Van Busse! gave Lucan the win. This week Bantam girls' played against London Cosmos. Despite great goal -keeping by Heather Goudy, London scored in the last two minutes of the game. handing Lucan a 1-0 loss.
