Hay gets grant
Municipal Affairs Minister Bernard
Grandmaitre this week announced
the $1,640 final payment -of a $10,933
community planning grant for the
County of Huron on behalf of the
Township of Hay.
Grandmaitre said the grant was us-
ed by the municipality to prepare a
comprehensive zoning by-law for the
Township of Hay.
Community planning grants are
designed to encourage municipalities
to review and update their planning
programs; zoning bylaws and other
planning documents.
The grants may also be used for
special studies on local issues such as
lakeshore development or commer-
cial development along highways,
and for energy -conserving planning
measures.
.blouse of Commons
discusses boundaries
The Federal Electoral Boundaries
Commission issued their final pro-
clamation concerning the boundaries
for the next federal election should it
be called after 13 July, 1988. Harry
Brightwell. Member of Parliament for
Perth, based on the size, extent and
services of a rural riding in com-
parison to an urban riding, filed an ob-
jection with the Commission regar-
ding the proposed federal riding of
Perth -Wellington -Waterloo.
Because this recommendation has
been turned down by the Commission,
the riding will officially be expanded
for the next- federal election i called
after July, 1988). The new riding of
Perth -Wellington -Waterloo will . in-
clude Perth County, Maryborough
and Peel Townships from Wellington
• County and Wilmot and Wellesley
Townships from the Regional
Municipalitiy of Waterloo.
"I would have preferred not to ex-
pand from the 66,000 population in
Perth riding to the more than 90,000
in Perth -Wellington -Waterloo riding
because I believe that rural based
ridings, due to their size and lack of
facilities should not be as large as ur-
ban ridings," Dr. Brightwell added.
• "But'now that the decision has been
made, I look forward to working with
all constituents in Perth -Wellington -
Waterloo."

Hello! Welcome to Queensway
news. •
Monday morning got started with
current events in the day room. Choir
practice took place in the afternoon
followed by drawing club. We have
some talented artists here at
Queensway, though most are too
modest to admit it.
Tuesday morning we met for bak-
ing club. We produced delicious
rhubarb custard pies. Fun and fitness
loosened us up later in the.aclivity
room. Several of our exercises re-
quire repetitions of five to 10. Our
residents counted time in German,
Dutch, English and French. A lot of
fun.
In the afternoon Reverend Alles led
our worship service. Gertie
Fleischauer was pianist. -- - -
Wednesday afternoon we had
library time with everyone browsing
through the numerous library books.
Luella Hall read a humourous story
to everyone from a book about the old
time school houses and some of the
student antics:
Thursday evening we played bingo
with the Zurich Mennonite ladies. It
was fun and everyone thoroughly en-
joyed the special cupcakes they
shared with us.
"A Walk In the Forest- was our
movie of the week on Friday. It was
an excellent nature film on wildlife
and plants found in the forest.
