The Varna -Goshen Annual
Lakeside Service was held Sunday
August 16 with a large majority of the
congregations attending. Rey. Sam
Parker led everyone III .1 nrship. The
children sang songs the had just
learned at Vacation Bible School. The
congregation (vain.! • rt also•and do

At the ; the service everyone
enjoyed it delicious pot blessing pic-
nic as usual.
The Varna -Goshen Vietnamese
family was able to join everyone also.
Heip's son Llai was recently married
and Joyce Dowson pinned a corsage
on his new bride. Joyce also read an
address to I tai's family and Geraldine
Eekel presented the newlyweds with
a beautiful lamp on behalf of the
Varna -Goshen Churches. Hai was
unable to be there as he has just
started a new job.
Help (Hai's mother) thanked
everyone on behalf of Hai and his
bride. Ileip's mother and her other
son were there also. These people are
now living in Toronto.
Following'the presentation, games
were held for the children and despite
the heat they all took part. While the
children were at their games there
was an adult game. A lady came out
dressed up,claiming she was going to
the beach and on her way she had to
stop and get the men to guess how big
their waists were with a string.
Everett Van Slighenhorst won for the
younger men gilessing his .waist
measurement right on. Elmer Hayter
won for the older men. But the joke
was on the ladies because they had to
write down on paper everything our
beach lady had on and was carrying.
She had everything from a dress'to a
red carnation on her hat. Anna Key's
daughter, Marilyn Laing,
remembered the most things. Good
thinking and remembering, Marilyn.
By the way, our beach lady was Pat
Armstrong.
There was also a prize for the
tallest man who was Bill Chessell.
The youngest one there was Jordan
Parker, who will soon be three
months old. Anna Keys had the most
family there.
The ladies looking after the games
did a terrific job and sure do deserve
a lot of credit for coming up with
some different games for everyone.
Another special visitor at the picnic
was Reverend Wilena Brown. It cer-
tainly was a nice surprise and a
pleasure to have her back with us to
join in our Lakeside Service. Miss
Brown is visiting with friends at Deer
Park Lodge in Bayfield for the week.
All enjoyed themselves and it was
just a beautiful day for the occasion.
