The exhibition consists of fabric art from two Ontario artists: Sharyn Siebert and John Muldrew Scott. Sharon Siebert hails from Guelph. "It has been a good season for the Blyth Festival Art Gallery" stated Gallery Director Carol McDonnell. The first exhibition this summer, showing the work of Huron County Secondary School students, drew comments such as 'excellent art work', 'exceptional talent' and 'I can't believe students did these!'. The second exhibition, coffibining cool watercolours with iridescent glazes on raku pottery, elicited the following remarks: 'a pleasure to see such refined work', 'delightful, cool', and 'lovely'. While most of the visitors who signed the guest book were from Ontario, addresses have been noted from as far afield as Dallas, Texas; Coquitlam, British Columbia; Emsworth, England; and Utrecht, Holland! The third and final exhibition of this summer will be opened on Saturday 3r {AR. AND MRS. JERRY McCANN Sherry Lee Dayman and Jeremiah John McCann were united in marriage on July 18, 1987 at Our Lady cf Mount Carmel Church with Father Gary Goyeau of- ficiatirg. Sherry is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dayman, Kipper and Jerry is the son of Mrs. Noreen McCann, Grand Bend The bride was attended by matron of honour Joanne Moir, siste• of the bride. Bridesmaids were Rolinda DeRuter, friend of the hide, Mary Jo McCann, sister of tte .groom, Shirley Hodgert, sister of the bride and the flovargirl was Krista Dayman, niece of the bride. The groom was assisted by best man Brian McCann, cousin of the groom, RoE McCann, brother of the groom, Hugh Ryan, cousin of the grcom, Wayne Miller, brother -in - lav of the groom and the rirgbearer was Kyle McCann, nephew of the groom. The organist was Bob McIntosh and sdoist was Marlene Mothers, cousin of the bride. Following a honeymoon in Montreal and Cuebec City, the couple are residing near Mount Carmel. The wedding will take place on Friday, August 28, 1987 at 5 p.m. at the - Exeter Christian Reformed Church, Exetetl August 15 by Bev Katzin-Walker. Ms. Katzin-Walker was the first director of the- Blyth Festival Art Gallery when it was founded in 1976, and has been closely associated with it ever Music students win in Kitchener festival Exeter and area students of 'Brad's Music Studio' were winners at this year's Central Music League Annual Competitions. The festival was held July 4 and 5 at Bingeman Park in Kitchener. Local student results are as follows:.. Exeter girls Calvin grads Calvin College of Grand Rapids, Michigan has announced the names of more than 850 baccalaureate, pre- professional, and master's degree candidates for May 1987. Commence- ment was held May 23. Dianne E. Boersma of RR 1, Ex- eter, and Charlene Verbeek oT RR 3, Exeter were among the 850 eligible to attend the commencement ceremony held in the college fieldhouse. Dr. Anthony J. Diekema, president, conferred the degrees after the graduates were presented to him by Dr. Gordon L. Van Harn, provost. The commencement speaker was, Dr. John A. Bernbaum, vice- president of the Christian College1 Coalition and director of the/ American Studies Program. Established in 1876, Calvin is a' Christian four-year liberal -arts col- lege with an enrollment of over 4,000. Calvin is included in the college guides Selective Guide to Colleges and'he Best Buys in College Educa- tion, which are written by the educa- tion editor of The New York Times. Class B Rock Group Powerhouse -.Featuring Joe Taylor, Mark and Scott Amos, and Jason Ropchan- third-82 percent. Students competed against people from London, Clinton, Kitchener, Listowel, Toronto, Agincourt and Mitchell. All guitar students and bands were taught by Brad James of Canadian Music Teacher's Guild and piano students by Marnie Mackiod. Leonard Wein,, of the Queensway Nursing home in Hensall will be 80 on August 19. Irving Stahl, of Crediton celebrated his 90th birthday on August 12.
