Good parade, demolition derby
feature Crediton Summorfest
An excellent parade, choosing a
Junior Miss and a demolition derby
were some of the features of the
weekend Summerfest in Crediton.
• Activities started Friday night as
chairman Bill Wilds welcomed
everyone followed by local
entertainment.
Shannon Brennan was crowned
Junior Miss by last year's winner Kel-
ly Glavin. Prizes for Junior Miss con-
testants were provided by Aloette
Cosmetics, Doug Lightfoot and fami-
ly. Quality Produce and Susan's Ilair
Design.
A large crowdsatisfied their Satur-
day, morning appetites by attending
a sausage and pancake breakfast
sponsored by the Crediton volunteer
firemen. This was followed by a bake
sale with ladies of Crediton United
Church and Crediton Women's In-
.stitutes in charge.
Theannual parade with a Fantasy
Land theme was one of the best ever.
Winning in the theme category was
a float entered .by Pinecrest Variety
depicting Alice in Wonderland. Se-
cond and third respectively were
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
from the Ken McCann family and
PeeWee s Playhouse portrayed by the
Mowatt Hendrick family.
In the commercial section winners
were the White Squirrel Restaurant
of Exeter. Merner's Meats of
Dashwood and Larry's Town am)
Country Inn from Credit on.
Horse drawn vehicle priz went to
Carl Tyler, Dashwood and -Hen -sail
Co-op. Tyler also won in the horse and
rider section.
Comedy winners were • the
Brownlee and Dundas families as
Sylvester the Cat, the Kids and Dog
and the Kock and Roll Rats.
In the- wheels division, winners
were Jamie and Sandra Bibby, in a
Toy Box, Care Bears Matthew and Jo -
Dee Kegler and Kevin King in his Go-
a Cart.
Mike Veal of Exeter won the $1,000
top prize in the Summerfest elimina-
tion draw. Winners of $25 each were
Joan Cleave, Exeter; Rosemary
Stewart, Crediton; Jim Weigand,
Dashwood; the Durney family,
Crediton; Doe McLeod, Teeswater
and Bill Fleti, Walkerton; Steve
Talbot, Exeter and Murray Cardiff,
Ethel.
Joanne Jacques, RR I Granton won
a quilt and an afghan went to Irene
Haugh, Crediton.
In• the Bessie Bingo competition,
Wayne King, Exeter and Tim Ander-
son, Mount Forest won $250 each and
$125 apiece went to Joan Finkbeiner
and Brenda Mitchell. '
The Riley brothers Don and Rob
won the demolition derby Sunday
afternoon in front of a large and en-
thusia'tic crowd.
The ize for the best looking car
was wo by Glenn Pfaff.
WINS 51,000 — Ted Wales of the Summer est ommittee presents
a $1,000 cheque to Mike Veal as winner of the elimination draw.

STUCK ON YOU - During the consolation round, Al Brand, driver
of car no. 33 (The Pink Pig), and Craig Vandeworp, driver of car no.
27, tried to separate their cars after a hard hit by the Pink Pig left
the two cars attached at the bumpers. Al Brand eventually won the
round at Sunday's Demolition Derby at the Crediton Summerfest.
