week.
On Tuesday evening the Ladies
Auxiliary entertained the residents
with a variety program Which was
followed by refreshments. The
business part of their meeting follow-
ed to finalize arrangments for the
Bean Festival. Please look for their
booth and support them. The quilt is
still on display here at the Home and
tickets are available here and from
members of the Auxiliary.
Fr. Mooney celebrated mass on
Thursday afternoon.
Residents who were out visiting
recently were: Mrs. Helen Bedard,
Mrs. Mabel Glenn, Mrs. Ruth
Warner, Mrs. Lucinda Keller, Mrs.
Irene McClinchey, Mrs. Genevieve
Ducharme, Mrs. Violet Huntley, Mrs.
Mary Gerber, Loftus Denomme,
Aaron Gingerich, Stephen Molnar,
Mrs. Marcella Dietrich and Dr. Chas.
Toll.
We welcome Mrs. Matilda Bassow
to the Home. She formerly resided at
the Maplewoods Apartments.
Bingo was played on Friday even-
ing followed by refreshments.
The Sunday evening chapel service
was conducted by Mr. and Mrs. Eric
Luther of Hensall.
CORRECTION
Last week's article detailing pro-
ceedings at the Hay Township Coun-
cil meeting indicated the site of the
new Mennonite Church to be west of
the Blue Water Rest Home. The cor-
rect site is to be to the east of the Rest
Home.

Playground in full swing
Several children from town are
having fun at the Zurich playground
program every day since it started on
July 20. There are 18 younger children
in the morning group from 9-12. With
15 older ones going in the afternoon
from 1-4 p.m., under the supervision
of two capable leaders, Rita
Denomme and Cathy Overholt. All
the kids that take part in swimming
lessons go by bus on Wednesday and
Thursday driven by Glen Thiel to
Vanastra.
Last Thursday 14 of the older
children took part in an overnight
camp -out at the back of the arena.
They went equipped with tents,
sleeping bags, warm clothing,
• flashlights and treats for the evening
which started at 7:00 p.m' They en-
joyed having a bonfire and roasting
marshmallows!
Everyone was home again for
breakfast by 8:00 a.m.
Bingo winner
Last week's lucky bingo jack -pot
winner was Joanne Teliford of
Bayfield, for $750.00. And the mystery
prize of $113.00 each went to Bernice
Jeffrey, Exeter, and Ettie Hugill,
Goderich.
A surprise birthday party was held
at the home of Glen and Laura Ann
Overholt on Sunday, in honour of his
big day.
Ladies Auxiliary
The ladies Auxiliary held their
monthly meeting at the Rest Honie
last Tuesday, August 4. A musical
program was enjoyed by all the
residents who were out to the
auditorium followed by coffee and
doughnuts. Mary Lou Erb, president,
welcomed the 27 members present.
Anne Flaxbard reported sending
three birthday cards and three get -
well cards in July.
A card of thanks was received from
Mr. Risi for their help at the last big
supper in July.
Verda Baechler will be attending
the convention in Toronto next month.
Final plans were made for our bean
festival "Bake Goods" booth on
Saturday August 22, and ticket con-
venor for the quilt is Madeline
Gelinas.
Anniversaries
Belated happy 40th wedding an-
niversary wishes are extended to Neil
and Gladys Gingerich. Several
friends and relatives attended an
Open House in their honor at their
home on July 26.
Congratulations to Richard and
Yvonne Creces who celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary on Sunday
August 9, with a dinner at the arena
for relatives and family members,
followed by an Open House which
several friends and relatives attend-
ed. The well-known couple are now
living at the Rest -Home apartments.
Among their guests were ten relatives
from Belgium
The family of Ray and Janice Hart-
man surprised their parents on Sun-
day with an open house at their
residence, on the occasiop of their
30th wedding anniversary.
Throughout the afternoon' ar}d even-
ing, many friends and relat(ves drop-
ped in to extend their best wishes to
the happy couple.
In spite of a wet, rainy day the
Knights of Columbus's second annual
pork roast ( whole pig) and corn roast
was a big success. It was held at the
arena on Sunday.
The Ecumenical Service Commit-
tee for the Sunday of the Zurich Fair
are pleased to announce that the
amount collected that day for Brother
Bob Mittleholtz was $371.75. We are
sure the money will be put to good use
for his missions in India. Thank you!
Personals
Little Ashley Ann Overholt,
daughter of Barry and Karen of Ex-
eter was baptized on Sunday August
9 at Mt. Carmel Church by Fr.
Goyean. Her god -parents were Rick
and Karen Smith of Exeter and Kel-
ly Bigelen. Attending from Zurich
were her grand -parents, Phil and
Vonnie Overholt.
John and Helen Consitt, daughter
Heather and cousin Jason from Mit-
chell spent a few days away on
holidays last week visiting with
friends in Peterborough and Lindsey
and relatives in Orillia.
Jerome. Carmel and Renee
Sweeney enjoyed spending Friday
evening in Waterloo and having sup-
per out, in honor of their daughter's
birthday, Carrie Eybergen, on August
8.
Mrs. Louella Willert of Zurich and
Mrs. Elmer Turner of Varna return-
ed home safe and sound last Wednes-
day after a lovely five-week vacation
in Alberta. They visited with their
families, Edgar and Ruth Willert in
Innisfail and attended the wedding of
grand -daughter, Sandra Willert to
Rob Wilcox on July 25. Also they
visited with son Carl and Marg Willert
and family in Olds, Alberta.
Mrs. Beatrice Rader returned
home to her apartment at the Maple
Woods last Wednesday after a nice
months' vacation with her daughter
Joan and family in Truro, Nova
Scotia.
Harold and Doreen Dietrich and
son Kevin recently spent a few days
away on holidays travelling the Thou-
sand Islands and other places.
Sister Rose Rau spent July with her
parents, Charlie and Madeline and
family as she was away travelling for
the last six months studying scripture
in Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Italy.
France, Israel and Rome (where she
also saw the Pope). She will now stay
at the Renewal Centre in London for
the next two years.
