Exeter Minor hockey searching for a Midget coach
Exeter Minor Hockey wants you.
They're looking for a Wades - a person who can handle kids
and inspire them to do reasonably great things. They're also look-
ing for someone who can skate.
Exeter Minor Hockey is in the market for a coach who will
take the helm of the organization's Midget travelling team. Mike
Stewart, who led the team through a successful season last year,
has stepped down from the position.
Il was hoped that Paul Charrette, Tong time executive member,
would fill the gap left by Stewart, but Charrette has accepted a
transfer to Montreal (see story, page IA) and so the position re-
mains empty.
Larry Taylor, first vice president of the organization, says
they're looking for a responsible individual.
"Ideally, you'd like the guy to have played minor hockey," he
says, noting that the candidates need not have coaching creden-
tials. Various coaching levels can be obtained through the minor
hockey system.
"They'll get a great deal of satisfaction out of it just helping
the young. I know I did".
Honourable mention
There are few people walking around town who can claim that
they just got back from provincial finals - any provincial finals.
And so, even though they didn't win, it seems appropriate to men -4
tion a local four -some recently returned from Toronto where they
competed in the Crown Life Provincial Championship golf
tournament.,

The team, made up of pro lion Bileski and amateurs Jim
Brown, John Lugli and Kerry Wilkins, was one of the nine teams
from the Stratford regionals to advance to the pro -am tourney held
at the Board of Trade July 24.
They didn't win, but Bileski says they finished in the middle
of a pack of roughly 100 golfers.
"We didn't win anything, but the guys played alright," Bileski
said.
What more could we ask?
Minor ball festivities
McGillivray minor ball day is being held this weekend (August

in.

tion in the day long event.
The highlight of the afternoon will be a women's slo-pitch
double-header when the McGillivray Selects, a team made up of
players from McGillivray and Brinsley North Stars, will come up
-against the London Ted Dills Gems at 6 p.m.
Becatfse the Gems have the Ontario ladies slopitch champions
for the past nine years, the games should be entertaining.
Games begin at 9:15 a.m. when Lieury Bantams take on teams
from Grand Bend and Nairn.
The last game will run at 9 p.m. when the Juvenile Uec Selects
come up against West Corners.
There will also be children's games throughout the day and
draws on several prizes. Food and refreshments will be provided
