Best Things in Life feature 16th annual Friedsburg Days

Friedsburg Days dominated the
lives of all the residents in Dashwood
during the Civic holiday weekend.
Some people were exercising their
biceps, or preparing kir a beauty con-
test, cooking, decorating, or just
working hard all with the communi-
ty spirit.
The parade theme was the Best
Things in Life Are -•-. Three major
awards were the Theme Award to
Beckers Farm Equipment and
Hayters Turkey Farms: Craftsman-
ship award - Kick Skinner Enter
prizes and Community Spirit award
to the Zion Lutheran Youth Group.
The horse drawn category was won
by Cook's and l[ensall Co-operative
and the horse and rider winners were
Dale Marshall and Jackie
I lindmarsh.
Small vehicle category best were
Ted Hayward and Brian Kipfer and
Fest with decorated bicycle were
Sarah Stire, Miranda Ilayter and
Jason Becker. The youngest partici-
pant - Breanne Becker, daughter of
Joe and Nancy Becker and the novel-
ty award went to McCann's Cement
Mix.
The afternoon activities were well
attended to view the BMX Cool Bike
Team featuring Scott Coolman. The
Canada's Top Skateboarders was im-
pressed with the warm reception. they
received from the audience as they
performed on their skateboards.
Cross cut saw contest ladies divi-
sion was won by - Eleanor Weigand
and Judy Crown in 25.5 seconds and
Kandy Itegier and Vern Sorenson at

sion was won by Tammy Forrester
and the male winners were Wayne
Dennotnme: Robert Masse, Jim
Dietrich, Greg, Becker, Adrian
Vandenhoen.
Tug of year tor the second•year in
a row was wqn by the Red ['ower'.
team sponsored by Becker Farm
Equipment Ladies division team was
won by "Big O Rope Riders".
craft show was organized by
Marion Tiernan and the following won
door prizes. Shirley Marten -cypress
wood clock made, by Karry Dort -
mans: Mildred Kellerman won a
" 11'(dcome" sign designed and made
by "Witchcraft" Ginger Weber and
Diane Eagleson and a handcrafted
crochet pillow made by Olive Webb
the winner was Bill Weigand.
Other prizes won by Gerlie Stade
donate by 1layte r Turkey Farms and
Ralph Weber won a meat tray,
donatedby Merrier Meats.

tended to hear the two bands
"Eureka'. Friday- evening and Satur-

Carl Mills. Exeter played the
bagpipes to gather everyone to the
very impressive worship service
sponsored by the Dash wood and area
Business :Association. Vice-president
Donna Holtman welcomed the con-
gregation and thanked all the
participants. -
The guest sneaker was Pirie \lit-

sang the Lord's Prayer.
During the offering Douglas Martin
and Fraser Lobb,u. (;rand Bend sang

Mills piped everyone to the pancake
and sausage branch cooked and sexy
•e(1 by the, Dashwood volunteer
firemen. . -
The Frie(Ltiburg Committee ap-
preciated the response from the coin -
m unity in attendance and par-
ticipants at the 16th anniversary- and
thank all the people who helped in all
the events.
Personals
Hubert and Vesta Miller attended
the 1987 Canadian National Seminar•
for Aloette Cosmetics at the Royal
York Hotel in Toronto. Saturday
night. Vicki Miller received a silver
fox fur jacket in appreciation of
recruiting: a diamond and sapphire
bracelet for yearly sales and diamond
and sapphire earrings for staff sales.
Dianne r Miller r Biggam. Toronto
placed seventh in Canadian sales for
the year and was awarded a beautiful
diamond and sapphire bracelet.
Their third daughter l.isa Miller.
Toronto also a beauty consultant
received numerous gifts. The family
dined with the founders of Aloof
from Philadelphia. Tricia and John
Defibaugh.
Larry Johns. Exeter and Frank (;if-
fin.and Bob Biggam Toronto also at-
tended Diane. Vicki and Lisa ex-
pressed their thanks to all their
Aloette hostesses and customers in
the area for their continued support
throughout the year for making these
achievements possible.
Civic Holiday visitors with Mrs.-

rs.Jean Walper were Stan and Rete
Slezak. London.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jeffrey, Port
-Perry visited with- Jean on their
return from a three week vacation in
Florida.
Mrs. :Mary Hader entertained
