It's hot at
Hully Gully
"011" In some cases, it stands for
"designated hitter" but in this case,
it stands for "darn hot" which per -
tams to both the riders and the
weather at'Tully Gully here today.
The competition was fierce, and
though there were a few spills, there
«fere no serious injuries. Prior to the
weekend motocross, there was a
motocross school at Hully Gully and
• some of the graduates that were pre-
sent surprised a lot ocsf the copetition

Brian Blackburn of Exeter was the
winner of the senior open class.
The next major motocross event for
this area is the London International
Supercross, August_ 15 and 1.6 at the
Western Fairgrounds.
Supercross - What is it?
To sum things up, Supercross is a
mixture of many sports, those being
football, hang-gliding, figure skating,
and steeplechase. Kind of a mixed
bag of tricks, but Supercross has
something in common with all -of
thein. Its compared to football for the
sheer strength required to struggle
with something that weighs around
200 pounds; hang-gliding for the diz-
zying heights reached coming off
some of the jumps.
Figure skating comes into play due
to the delicate and precise maneuvers
that are choreographed by the riders
in order to survive the track, and
steeplechase for the type of course
and endurance required by the rider.
Top this off with excessive speed and
the human competitive spirit and
you've got one of the hottest sports to
hit the country in years.
Supercross - indoor motocross, first
appeared in Los Angeles in 1972, and
has since taken the continent by
storm. This is evidenced by the tens
of thousands of fans that make the
yearly trek to Toronto for its annual
Supercross.
This is the second year for Super -
cross in London as it made its debut
last year at Western Fairgrounds,
meeting favourable response. Last
year's Supercross was jammed into
one action -packed day, however, this
year, it has been lengthened to two
days; one for Motocross, the other for
ATV competition.
Egg increase
The price paid to farmers fqr Grade
A large eggs in June increased by a
least one cent in all provinces, the
Canadian Egg Marketing Agency
announced.
The farm -gate price in New-
foundland, Nova Scotia and New
Brunswick will rise by two cents.
The increase is attributed to higher
conversion and feed costs.
The conversion factor is the dif-
ference between the Grade A large
price and the average price the pro-
ducer is paid for all sizes.
It is the first time this year that the
farm -gate price for eggs has
increased.
CEMA sets the prices paid to egg
farmers at the beginning of each
month using a cost of production
formula.
The prices are reported inadvance
to the federal government's National
Farm Products Marketing Council.
