management of stress such as 'Know

Asked why she chose a Christmas
theme to get across the various points
she was making, O'Shea said that

SIMMONS
ON THE MAIN STREET OF DUBLIN 345.2250
OPEN Monday to Saturday 9:30-6:00
Thursday and Friday night Until 9:00,
home increased skill in group com-
munication and public speaking, as
well as a list of new friends.
A number of excellent ideas to im-
prove 4-H were offered byh
people—at-the final wrap-up and
evaluation session.. More informative
newsletters, leader training on how to
conduct meetings, exchange trips
during the school year and councils
and clubs that go on all year were
among the suggestions.
Other suggestions came from
OMAF personnel who work with the
4-11 clubs. Denise Edwards,
Markdale, said a great deal of effort
goes into the newsletters, and con-
tributions from 4-11 members are
wanted, needed and appreciated.
Richard Hamilton from the Clinton
office pointed out '4-H is for you', and
the job of the adult advisors is to work
with the members to develop in-
teresting and informative programs.
Ile said he would like to be invited to
attend meetings of the Huron clubs,
and would accept invitations
whenever possible.
Fleming attends all nine annual
regional conferences in Ontario. He
started outas a 4-H member, then ob-
tained a summer job as a regional
conference coordinator. His ex-
periences with 4-H were a deciding
factor in choosing a career with the
ministry of agriculture. As he moves
around the province he often sees
young men and women he first met at
a regional conference who are now
filling ,leadership positions in the
agricultural community and in other
professions.

Standingunder a giant banner
which rea'You are the one -- Make
it count', Diane O'Shea delivered a
seminar on stress and time manage-
ment to 70 I5 -year-olds at Centralia
College Wednesday afternoon.
The teenagers were there as part of
a three day regional conference being
put on by 4-11. The conference, one of
nine conducted across Ontario this
week, began with the youths examin-
ing their inner selves. They then took
a close look at their environment and
others. around them, building up into
a broader view of the world in general
as the conference progressed.
O'Shea, a 4-H leader and a Granton-
Lucan area farmer, dealt with both
the positive and negative aspects of
stress.
'Stress is an individual thing,'
O'Shea told the group. 'It can be a
fatal thing or a fantastic thing, but it's
all up to each one of us.'
Using a series of graphs and visual
aids, O'Shea explained that a certain
amount of stress is necessary to be
happy and successful in life, but she
warned that each one of us has a
distinct breaking point which we must
not cross.
Asking the teenagers for their
definitions of success, the 4-H leader
put emphasis on the importance of
good health in life. She noted that suc-
cess depends heavily on a balance
