Go undefeated in four games

Crediton Royals went undefeated in
four games on the weekend to take the
Lucan Men's Slo-pitch tournament by
storm.
Royals downed U.A.W. 10-0 in the
'A' final Sunday afternoon to capture
the title and collect S225 in prize
money. The team took home a total

The Crediton team started on the
road to victory Friday night when
they defeated Jungle Joose Jets 4-3.
A 6-1 win over Crediton Cowboys
Saturday afternoon sent them into the
semi-finals against Base Invaders.
Royals won that game 9-7, earning a
birth in the 'A' final Sunday
afternoon.
The U.A.W. team found their way
to the 'A' final after an equally long
haul. They started their winning ways
Saturday morning when they beat
Grand Central 9-8. The team pulled
out another narrow victory when they
beat Renegades 10-9. That win sent
them into the semi-finals against
Nevin's Lions. U.A.W. pounded the
Lions 12-2 to collect $50 and advance
to the final where they stalled out.
U.A.W. received $125 for finishing
as 'A' finalists, bringing their total
winnings to $225.
Tigers are 'I3' champs
A match -up between Toohey's
Tigers and Lucan Firemen decided
the 'B' final at the Slo-pitch tourney
Sunday afternoon. Tigers came out on
top, pulling ahead in the last few inn-
ings to win 7-3 and collect $175 in prize
money. That brought their total win-
nings to $250.
Toohey's recovered quickly from
an initial loss to beat Town Criers 8-2
Saturday morning and hold a spot in
the 'B' division.
Tigers continued their winning
ways, defeating Debbie's Kitchen 7-3,
picking up $50 for the semi-final win
and advancing to the 'B' final against
the Firemen.
Lucan Firemen stayed in the 'B'
division by beating Grand Central 6.5.
They then came up against Exeter
Brewers in the semi-final round and
handed them a 6-3 loss.
Firemen picked up 875 for being 'B'
finalists. That brought their weekend
earnings to $150.
Pete Remington was voted
Firemen's most valuable player while
Gary Hayter was selected as MVP for
Toohey's Tigers.
Old Timers take 'C' final
After dropping their first two
games, Lucan Old Timers turned
around and managed to get on the
right side of the score.
Old Timers thumped Grand Central
13-6 Saturday morning, sending them
into the 'C' semi-final against llder-
ton Sluggers. Sluggers were no match
for the Lucan team. Old Timers won
the game 11-1.
The Lucan team pulled out.a nar-
row victory in the 'C' final, beating
Heywood successful in Ironwood 'B' flight
There were many new faces in the
winning circle at the Ironwood Ladies
Club Monday night with Joan
Heywood scoring a spectacular score
of 40. Heywood who just moved to B
flight, could be looking at A flight
very shortly.
The evening was sponsored by
"Aloette".
Mary Bilke gave a demonstration
of her Aloette products.
Mai iene Parsons captured A flight
low gross with a 44 and Doris
Hackney with 46, took low net honours
with a 32.
The B flight was won by Heywood
and Lorna Russell with a score of 44,
captured low net with a 25.
The C flight winners were Fran
Mickle for low gross with a 51 and Ila
Mathers for a low net with a 32.
Closest to pin on number four was
taken by Helen Webber.
Skins were won by Janet Wedlake,
Helen Burton and Joan Heywood.
Hidden scores were taken by Edith
Boyle, MaryLou Thomson, Betty
Coates and Kim Pinder.
The ladies club voted to help spon-
sor the "Juniors Tournament" by
donating a prize.
Next week Ju1y'27 will be sponsored
by Sunoco.
