WHEAT HARVEST UNDERWAY
— Many area farmers started
their wheat. harvest Monday.
Shown in action here is Maurice
Hoist of the Crediton area. Hoist
says it appears first yields would
exceed 50 bushels per acre which
i excellent considering the long
spell of hot and dry weather.

Granted. God has not given him
death threats as God did to Oral
Roberts but it may be in the wings.
Mr. Robertson has a realistic
chance to become the Republican
candidate 1 le certainly has charisma
on the boob tube and that sincerity 00
camera worked twice for Ronald
Reagan. Mr. Robertson may had had
a grxxl shot at becoming president un-
til the recent P'I'L scandals. Maybe fie
can scare hell out of enough people to
still get into the White House. If he
does, he'll scare hell out of many
more people than he did with The 700
Club.
Ori the other hand. Rev. Roberston
is probably having second thoughts
now. Ile knows religious zealots
across the %world have been given a
kick down Jacob's ladder by .Jim's
adults ous boot. With the exception of
Iran. religious zealots are out of sync
with public thinking even outside the
democratic nations. The Dali Lama
has been without a country for a cou-
ple oI generations.
The Rev. Robertson .would. I'm
sure. have problems mixing his
religion with politics._ The problems
would be enormous. Religion should
be pure and selfless, loving and love-
ly, holy and heavenly

Push on market elubs
In these times of mountainous
surpluses, the central problem for
most agricultural products is not to
produce more, but to sell it better. It .
would be nice if there wast single for- .
mula that could be used to price a
crop. The formula could tell us when '
to sell, which would be at the highest
price for the year. However it is not
that simple, and instead we must
understand the marketing tools
available to us and titr them in
marketing our crop. As individuals
we have a limited access to market
information and limited time in which
to access that information.
In order to meet the challenge of
learning the market, some farmers
have organized a marketing club. The
basic idea is that as a group farmers
can achieve what has proven to be dif-
ficult for the individual. The clubs are
usually smhlI and informal producer
groups that are formed to improve
member understanding of marketing
tools, information, and methods and
do this at much less cost to the in-
dividual than would otherwise be the
case.
Marketing clubs are not new.
Several have been operating in Huron
County and other areas for several
years now. A meeting for producers
interested in forming a marketing
club will be held on Tuesday, July 28,
8:00 p.m. at the O.M.A.F. Boardroom,
Clinton. Initially a club for 'Central
Huron' will be discussed.
If enough producers in attendance

joining a .club, but are unable to at-
