both coaches, did not perform very
well.'

needed a late goal by. Ryan Vern to
pull out a tie. - •
Eric Reimer also scored for Exeter
I. The score was 2-2.
Exeter 11 fared even 'worse losing
3-0 to league leading Grand Bend. The

Royals
Exeteritoyals continued t6 strug-
gle in South Western Fastball league
action this week, losing two games.
They have now won just once in their
last six outings.
Tuesday, a five run outburst in the
fifth inning led Lucan White Sox to a
7-3 victory over Royals.
All the runs came with two out and
the rally was keyed by Doug Latta's
high bouncing, bases loaded single off
pitcher Glen Thompson.
Brian Hodgins led the Exeter of-
fence with two hits off winning pitcher
Paul Homburg.
Pete Tuckey, Dan Heywood, Glen
Thompson, Jim Allison and Will
Lamb also reached base safely.

deficit scoring three times in the top
of the seventh inning for a 4-3 victory.
_All the runs were scored on a hotly- -
disputed, bases loaded double by cen-
tre [iefder Kim Pickering.
The hit. which appeared to most
observers to be a foyll ball, pinned the
loss on starting pitcher Brian Hodgins
who had allowed just two hits in the
fifth and sixth innings.
Glen Thompson led Royals attack
with a two run homer -and a single.
Hodgins also contributed two
singles as the home club outhit their
opposition 11 to five.
Royals travelled to Tara for a week
end tournament where a lack of time-
ly hitting was the main factor in two
losses.
Dan Heywood turned in perhaps his
to slide
strongest performance of the year in .
the first game. He limited
Shakespeare -Colts to just fourhits in
a l -O loss.
Mike Desjardine led the offence -
with a triple and single as the Royals
stranded six runners. four of whom
were in scoring position.
In the second game, a 5-2 loss to a
club from Toronto, Pete Tuckey led
the offence with a double. two walks
and a stolen base. He also scored both
runs.
Once again, a lack of timely hitting
contributed as six runners were
stt'anded on base including three in
the. seventh inning.
Glen Thompson and Brian Hodgins
shared the pitching duties.
