They were brought to Stratford by
Johan Bossers who sang in the choir
from 1970 to 1980 and became a resi-
dent of Stratford four years ago. He
was one of the singers on a tour of
southwestern Ontario in 1977.
It was a reunion for Bossers and a
chance to show his adopted city to his
friends from Holland.
The choir members are all from or
live near Oosterhout in Holland.
Members are selected from public
schools for the concert class choir.
There are two levels the student must
pass before actualy getting into the
choir. At the same time the students
are receiving a general music
education.
The Nightingales' music ranges
from spiritual to waltz and includes
folk music and all harmonizing.
Bossers said it was quite an ac-
complishment to bring a choir of this
calibre to appear in Stratford.
They sing their songs in five
languages. They are English, Ger-
man, French, Dutch and Italian.
Johan Bossers and Jack Van Bussel
are members of the Dyke Hoppers, an
area musical group.
