exchanged wedding vows on
May 2, 1987 at Redwood Park
Alliance church in Thunder Bay,
Ontario with Pastor Brian Russell
officiating. The bride was attend-
ed by Cathy . Sue Pattyson and
Kevin Rodegarde was best man,
half-brother of groom. They are
children of Donald and the late
Marion Kestle of Palmerston and
son of Mrs. Anne Rodegarde and
Mr. Gordon Comegan, Morrison,
Ontario. The guests were
ushered by Samuel Kivun and
Dennis Magiskan. A reception
followed at the home of Mary
Mitchell, a friend of the couple.
After a wedding trip to Ottawa
and Montreal thecouple is
residing in Thunder Bay.

Bayfield Conservation A June 30.
It is the result of a water conservation
workshop Dolores Sha Won attended
at the Federated Women's Institute of
Ontario level and was challenged to
have a project in my own area.
Robert 'frau(. Conservation
Ag}'ologist. was delighted to have a
group ask for a tour of the Ausable
Bayfield Conservation Area. The tour
began at headquarters in Osborne
Township and we viewed several
pieces of equipment that ire
available to landowners who decide to
use conservation tillage and cropping
as a means of soil erosion control. 'l'he

as well as a habitat fur many wildlife

11'e then visited the Arkona Lions
Museum and Rock Glenn and viewed
a film and the Indian artifacts collec-
tions. A walking tour was enjoyed
\there we learned of the species of
trees, flowers and the history of Rock
Glenn. It is a provincially significant
area of naturaland scientific interest
providing valuable \tater quantity
and quality functions in the Ausable
River Watershed.
Many reminisced as we stopped at
the -Cul-. fort Franks, initially ex-
ac•avated by the Canada Company
between 1872 and 1875. In 1948, floods
caused serious erosion and property
damage in the Village oI' Port Franks.
1'he nettly-lorn>ed ('onservation
Authority was asked by thecommuni-•
ly to undertake works to prevent such
damage during future floods. As its
first -oyer project the Conservation
Authority in 1950 dredged and
straightened the channel from the
Ilighway 21 bridge to Lake Huron.
