Graduation for grade eight pupils at
Stephen Central School was held Mon-
day night June 22.
The Albert Gaiser award for the
highest academic and leadership
qualities for 1986-87, was presented to
Jeff Sweitzer, son of Jim and Marg
Sweitzer of Shipka, for boys. and to
Susan Ratz, daughter of Harvey and
Dorothy Ratz, Shipka, and Denise
Hendrick, daughter of Howard and
Yvonne Hendrick, Crediton, for the
girls.

Dick -Zielman. Shipka area. won the

members of St. Pauls, Kirkton and St.
Thomas, Granton joined St. Patrick's.
church for a family worship service.
Rev Frank Braby was. in charge.
Mrs. Wayne Carroll was pianist, Mrs.
Ron Carroll readers and Mrs. Arnold.
Cunningham server.
Rev. Braby took his text from the
Gospel for the day, Matthew 10 -He
delivered a memorable sermon, his
last as rector of the Parish.
The new rector of the Parish Rev.
Beverly Wheeler will be in charge
after August 2.

graduation Thursday evening. The
Convocation was held at Humber Col-
lege, Toronto, where Barb graduated
from the Applied and Creative Arts
Division in Public Relations.
A large crowd attended the Buck
and Doe for John Louwagie and Mary
Parsons at Brodhagen .on Friday
evening.
Several from this community were
'guests at the.Walkom-McLean wed-
ding and reception on Saturday.

Board of Education, and Ada Dinney,
of Exeter. daughter of the late Mr.

Hugh and 1 attended the wedding
Saturday of our nephew, Jim
Finlayson, son of Art and Mary
Finlayson, of Seaforth, to Marian,
daughter of Bob and Ruth Duffy, of
Dublin. at St. Patrick's Roman
Catholic Church in Dublin, with
Father Corrigan. officiating.
Attending the bride were three of
her sisters, matron of honor, Kathy
Hulley, bridesmaids were Eileen Duf-
fy and Barbara Van Reuse]. Junior
bridesmaid was Melissa Eusepi. Best
man was Dale Kennedy, friend of
groom, ushers were Gary Bennett
and Brad Finlayson. Dinner and
reception was held at Seaforth Com-
munity Centre. After supper, Bill
Uhler, brother-in-law of groom show-
ed a slide presentation of pictures of
the young couple from when they
were children till present.
The Finlaysons senior were toasted
at dinner, also a special dance
number for their 45th anniversary on
June 30.
A reminder that the Shipka Com-
munity annual picnic will be held Ju-
ly 9 at the Community ('entre.

received a Bachelor of Law
degree, with distinction, at
Spring convocation, University of
Saskatchewan and was a reci-
pient of the Burkert Memorial
Award in Criminal Law. Elaine is
the wife of Paul Runalls, Saskat-
chewan and eldest daughter of
Joyce Baptie, Huron Park. She at-
tended J.A.D. McCurdy P.S.,

and Mrs. Hugh Davis were guests of
Audrey and Donna McFalls at a baby
shower honouring - Benjamin Alex-
ander Ross infant sin of Don and

and friends from the Luean area also
attended.

taking the many craft materials col-
lected by the A.C.W. for camp use.

Induction for Centralia minister

A large crowd attended the induc:
tion service at the United Church Sun-
day evening for Rev. Deborah Carter
who took the charges of Centralia and
Zion West recently.
Both congregations were
represented at the service as well as
a number of friends. A lovely' lunch
was served following the service.
Seniors'Meet •
A larger crowd than usual of senior
citizens gathered at Keegan's Inn
June 22 with prizes going to Charlotte
Harker. Margaret Carter, Lydia
Regier, Murray Carter. Nelson
, Squires and Ed Armstrong.
Each prize winner received a hos
'of strawberries donated by Kay Arm-
•' Strong. Mary Meikle entertained with
several musical numbers on the piano
during the afternoon.
Next gathering will be July 6 at
2:30.
