participation opportunities for women
in sport and fitness", said Eakins.
"Both -long-term and short-term
strategies are needed to address the
problem."
A four-phase study will be used to
develop the policy. The study is ex-
pected to be completed in one Year.
Phase One will focus on project
planning. A small steering committee
of Ontai-io Ministry of Tourism and
Recreation staff will work with a con-
sultant to analyze. existing resource
material. The information will be us-
ed' to develop broad general
guidelines.
Phase Two will focus on analysis of
.the information and development of
the policy. Prominent sport and
fitness representatives will assist the
steering committee in developing a
draft policy.
• Phase Three will be a public con-
sultation period. A province -wide
public consultation process will be im-
plemented to get feedback on the
draft policy from interest groups,
sport and fitness associations,
municipalities and Ministry staff.
Phase Four will focus on final
policy development. The public con-
sultation inputsvill beincorporatedin-
to a modified draft policy and
presented to the Minister .For
approval.
"While Ontario has made signifi-
cant efforts to advance women s par-
ticipation in sport and fitness, much
more is needed," said Eakins. "This
fitness
program is a positive step and will
complement other initiatives my
Ministry has taken in this area."

Setting the club at the top - the
golfer must coil the triangle (hands,
arms, golf clubs and body center
behind the ball into the brace of the
right leg.
A good way- to develop this all-
important move in your own swing is
to set up near a real or imaginary
wall and practise coiling back into it.
Too much lateral movement: the
golfer has swayed over the ball with
his upper body. Not enough lateral
movement: the golfer has tilted away
from the wall into a reverse pivot - the
curse of the vast majority of average
golfers. Correct lateral movement:
the brace of the right leg receives and
holds the weight.
The club is then at the correct posi-
tion at the top and you are now ready
to start your downswing.
