Annexation seen as answer
for sewers in new subdivision
At a recent meeting of Grand Bend
council a request was made for use of
the village sewage system.
Alan Guest, London. approached
council for the commitment with
respect to supplying sewers to Green
Forest Estates subdivision which is
located in Stephen Township. Council
told Guest that there was much more
involved that just their approval for
the sewers.
He was told that Gill Road is going
to be paved in the near future under
Grand Bend's budget. The best solu-
tion for this subdivison is annexation
council stated. These people will have
the same water and sewer rates as
the people in Grand Bend; and peo-
ple in the subdivision will be looking
to the village for recreation and all
other services.
Guest was told that if annexation is
turned down. the Township of Stephen
would have to send in snow plows.
garbage•contractors, etc.
Clerk Dianne Mollard was authoriz-
ed -to send letters -regarding the an-
nexation bid to all those concerned.
Guest told council that his main
concern was to get on with the
development, and he could see their
view on amalgamation as the only
way into the estates is by Gill Road.
No word has yet been received from
the ministry or the township.

in 1986.
Reeve Harold Green and Councillor
Marsha Lemon opposed the 10 per-
cent pay hike, but praised the patrol
for their good service. "I'll hate to see
the day when we have to hire all new
staff," said Green, "hut I still think
five percent would have been suffi-
cient this year."
Council set the hours of operation
and fees for their two beach parking
"lots. The lots will be open 9-5 on
weekdays and 9-9 Friday and Satur-
day and 9-6 on Sunday. It was felt that
the minimum wage would be paid
with an older student in charge, to be
paid $5.50 an hour. The rates for ad-
mission to the parking lots are the
same as last year.
