Tips
By Kon Bilesky
C'.P.(;.A. Professional
Rules - If the ball you have just hit
is lost out side a water hazard or is out
of bounds, you may playa provincial
ball providing a) - you do so before go-
ing forward to look for your first ball;
and b), you inform your opponent of
your intention before hitting again.
If you discover your first ball not
lost or out of bounds it remains the
ball in play and the provisional ball
must be abandoned. If however your
first ball is lost or out of bounds, the
provisional ball is in play and you
count both strokes played and add a
penalty stroke to your score.
Golf Swing - The golfer must begin
the swing by taking the triangle and
body centre away together. The
hands, arms and shoulders work as a
unit throughout and this unit works in
a never -changing relationship to the
body centre. An easy way to deter-
mine this at address is to check that
the arms and shoulders form an
isosceles triangle and that the clubs
point to the centre of the chest.
When the hands are pushed away
from the ball, the arms - shoulders
triangle becomes irregular and the
club no longer ties into body centre.
By creating an angle, instead of a
triangle at address, the golfer pro-
duces instant disconnection. Do not
try to "preset" the wrist cork or to
"roll the hands", allows the hands
and the club to work independently of
your body centre.
Next week - Setting the club at the
top of the swing.
"Giant Aerobics Classes" - Join the
students and staff of EPS, SHDHS
and Precious Blood at the Rec. Cen-
tre grounds, 10:15 - 10:45 a.m. If
you're busy in the morning, we're
planning a second class on John St.
East of Main for downtown business
people and shoppers, 2:30 - 3:00 p.m.
"Obstacle Race" - Rec. Centre staff
challenge other town departments
and local businesses to an obstacle
race of John St. East. Four to a team,
if you'd like to enter, call the Rec.
Centre.
"E.P.S. Skippers" - Members of the
Exeter Public School skipping teams
show their talents and gymnastics
ability in a skipping demonstration
immediately following the downtown
aerobics class.
"Seniors Shuffleboard Club" - Shuf-
fle free of charge at the Rec. Centre
on the 27th, 1:00-4:00 p,m.
"Family Roller Skating" - From
7:00 to 9:00 p.m., free of charge on the
Rec. Centre floor (limited number of
