Fishermen hungrier than fish
Appetites ranged from fair to
hungry at Saturday's third annual
Exeter Lions fishing derby at Mor-
rison Dam.
It depended on which side of the
water the appetites were. The fish
were not as co-operative as some
would have liked, but the 160 par-
ticipants gobbled up 360 hot dogs and
washed them down with same

Derby co-ordinator for the Lions
Larry Wein reports about 35 fish be-
ing caught. Most were rainbow trout,
but a couple of suckers and chub were
also landed.
The Ausable-Bayfield Conservation
Authority assisted the Lions in pro-
viding trophies and prizes to the
winners.
A number of fish were tagged when
they were stocked into Morrison Dam
five days before the derby, but none
were landed Saturday. The $50 cash'
prizes for the first two tagged fish
were available only on Derby day.
Anyone catching one of the special
trout this week or later in the summer
will have only the fun of catching
them and telling about how big they
were afterward.
The prize to the adult catching the
biggest trout went to Ken Brennan
with a 21 inch catch. Jackie Morgan
was the girl with the biggest fish and
Shaun Dawe was the winner for the
boys. The youngest fisherman was
three year-old Andrew Sinnamon.
Wein said the Lions were very hap-
py with the response to Saturday's
derby. He added, "That's the biggest
group of fishermen we have ever had
and we are looking forward to spon-
soring a bigger and better derby
again next year."
