WILLIAM ROHM The May meeting of the United Church Women was held Monday evening with 26 ladies present. Mrs. Lorne Ballantyne welcomed everyone and read a poem"Seeds of Kindness". We sang "All Things Bright and Beautiful". An interesting flower skit was acted by two violets, a daisy and a rose portrayed by Mrs. George Kellett. Mrs. Arnold Cann, Mrs. Barry Jeffery and Mrs. Ballan- tyne who also read a poem "Christian Seedling Mrs. Jeffery .read the scripture lesson John 15:1-7. Mrs. Cann read a humorous reading "Zucchini Anyone?" Mrs. Jeffery and Mrs. Kellett received the offering with prayer by Mrs. Bailan- tye. Mrs. Kellett gave a reading "Nobody Knows But Mother". President Mrs. Jeffery opened the business part of the meeting with a poem "Mother's Lode". The usual business was dealt with. The visiting committee for May, June, July and August are Group U - Mrs. Gerry Riehl; Group C - Mrs. Lloyd Ballantye; Group W - Mrs. Don Bray. Final price was set for the strawberry supper June 15. Housecleaning the church is to be done in the near future. Group U base- ment, Group C kitchen, Group W the upstairs of the church. Mrs. Ken Duncan gave a splendid report of the special events night at Kirkton-Woodham Community Cen- tre. Mrs. Jeffery closed with prayer. A delicious lunch was served by Group C which brought an enjoyable . evening to a close. Church Service Family Sunday and the fourth Sun- day of Easter church service was con- ducted by Rev. Robert Matheson. Rev. Matheson told the children's Atory entitled "Symbol Of Our Faith - The Shepherd's Crook". Murray Dawson clerk of session called Mr. and Mrs. Barry Miller and Mr. and Mrs: Gerry Morgan to the front of the church with their children to have them baptized. Sarah Melonie daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Miller; and Paul Gerald son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Morgan. The choir sang two numbers, "0 Give Us Homes and Faith Of Our Mothers". The sermon was entitled "Prospec- ting For Gold?" This is the conclusion of our passages from Peter's sermon. Peter tells his listeners of the mission of Jesus and how Jesus_ was put to death even though he was without sin. We are called to suffer for the sake of Jesus who is our shepherd and Saviour. God calls his sheep by name. Jesu5. is the door and we are called lc recognize the leadership of Jesus. A congregational meeting is callec to receive a report from the pastora: UCW watch skit relations committee next Sunday May 17 following the worship service. A fun night for the Explorer girls will be held at Elimville Church next Wednesday May 20 at 7 p.m. Bring your favourite game, prizes to be won. The worship service for Sunday. May 24 at Elimville United Church at 10:30 a.m. will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the U.C.W. There will be no service of worship or Sunday school at Thames Road on that day. There will be a combined commu- nion worship service on Sunday May 31 at 10:30 a.m. at Thames Road. There will be no Sunday School. After the service lunch will be partaken of. Elimville people are to bring sand- wiches and Thames Road are asked to bring cookies or squares. A large number of people partook of the sausage and pancake breakfast at Veal's Meat Market, Saturday morning, compliments of Veal's.
