Service features Bible Societ
By MRS. WILLIAM ROHDE
Rev. Robert Matheson was in
charge of the Bible Society Sunday
Church service. We read Psalm 116
responsively. The children's hymn
When He Cometh was sung and Rev.
Matheson told the children -a story en-
titled "The Good News Reading
Programme''.
The choir sang "0 Mighty God" ac-
companied by the organist Miss
Agnes Bray.
The scripture lesson was read from
Acts 2:14, 22-32, 1 Peter2: 19-25, Luke
24:13-35 and the sermon was entitled
"We All Have A Share in The Journey
To Emmaus".
In the Gospel lesson we discover
two travellers heading from
Jerusalem to -Emmaus. These
travellers are locked into their own
world. - When they come upon a"
stranger along the journey they let
him in on the news of the remarkable
Easter story of the empty tomb.
We. all too often, are locked into our
own small world and fail to see the
pictures (mission) God places before
us. We tend to see only the sights on
the journey of 'life we are most com-
fortable with - we do not have room
for anything challenging, out of the
ordinary, or which causes us
discomfort.
Our passages of scripture all re-
, mind us of how human beings fail Gat
and God's will. Today, Bible Society
Sunday. we are reminded of our role
m carrying the Good News of the
Kingdom to others. We are reminded
to give up the comfortable aspects of
our life -journey in order to better dy
the will of Gad.
