Our class brought in baby pictures and we couldn't believe we were so adorable as babies. Our discussion on things that hat- ched from eggs led us to our unit on dinosaurs. We enjoyed the trip to the London Children's Museum, especial- ly dressing up- as meat and plant eating dinosaurs. We all agreed that living in the age of dinosaurs would be a very scary time. . Grades one and two On April 15 we visited the Children's Museum in London. Grade one went to the dinosaur, gallery where they saw a film about dinosaurs', looked for dinosaur bones and dressed in dinosaur outfits. • Grade two visited the "street where • we live" gallery. They saw the shops and stores. of a town and also went down under the street. In the afternoon we went to see a marionette show. It was called "The Wizard of Oz". We had an exciting day. We would also like to welcome Tamara Cook to our classroom. (.rade three and four A new student arrived in grade four and his name is Dean Cook. Ile is from Manitoba. On April 15 grade three visited the Children's Museum in London. We clic( some activities on urban planning. We also saw a marionette show of the Wizard of Oz. Grades three and four participated --in-Under-the Coolitbah Tree on April lli at Exeter Public School. Grade five and six • Our class had a very interesting month. We had just finished reading three novels.Everyone enjoyed the great variety of tones. vii 1L s Redick came to our school to show us her ,slides on Russia. The slides showed ornate theatres and huge palaces. We learned that the Russian people take great pride in their history and the arts. Everyone visits the theatre several nights a week. Most of the people live in flats or in apartments, very few have private homes. Winters are very cold in Moscow. We would like to thank Mrs. Ifeatherltedick for visiting our class. (:rade five is finding the study of decimals very easy. Our wetland study has started and we will Ix, preparing For our field trip in May. (:rade seven and eight • Last week everyone in our class made a poster for National Nurses' Week. Dwana Foreman won first prize which was $20. Her poster will be on display in the South Huron Hospital along,with the other winning posters. On April 22 Janet Foster came to our school. We had guests from St. Boniface. Janet Foster talked to us about her trip to the Northwest Ter- ritories and the Yukon. Then she talk.- ed alk.ed about her cottage. Some of the animals she photographed at her cot- tage were the raccoon, deer, mice, an owl and a rabbit. This week our class made a video tape for -our exchange class in Quebec. On the tape our crass said "hi" to their pen pals and told a little about- themselves. We also video taped some of -the oT r1 er classes we have during the day. We hope that they will enjoy our tape. This past month we have bad two painters into paint our school white with orange and blue stripes. MI students made small books for a competition al our school. The winners were (feather Cons itt, Tammy Restemayer and Jay Hitchcock. They went with other authors from Zurich to Exeter for a presentation .by Janet Foster. Two students from Zurich Public School compeled in the Huron Coun- ty Science Fair held in Clinton, On- tarioon April 10. These students were Derick McGee and (feather Consitt. Derick placed first.
