BOOK FAIR — Tammy Rader (left), Adam Smith and Car a Ou• lootc
over the variety of books for sale during the four-day "Great Cana-
dian Book Fair" at St. Bonifoce School.
St. Boniface Upbeat
By Alimee Gelinas & Carla -Ann Oud
• St. Boniface gym was transfored in-
to the 1930's depression when the
Cascade Theatre Company perform-
ed the tale of "Booky".
From the 1930's we jumped into the
1980's world of rock and roll; the Stu-
dent Council has created the "Air
Band" Contest. In this contest, pick-
ing the right song to "mouth" to, and
talent can make anyone an instant
celebrity overnight - only in St.
Boniface!
Together with Mt. Carmel and
Precious Blood, Exeter, St. Boniface
has organized a Talent Pool for
children (grade five to eight). Classes
are offered at Precious Blood School,
Exeter, in Humour, Research Skills
and Publishing a newspaper.
Award-winning books may be pur-
chased at school through the "Great
Canadian Book Fair" April 23, 24, 27
and 28. A wide and exciting range of
educator -approved books priced from
under $1. and up to $4. will be on
display in giant book cases. The selec-
tion will include Newbery Medal
books, Canada Council of Children's
Literature Prize Winners and a wide
range of titles by Canada's leading
authors of children's stories.
Education Week officially opens
April 26 at 3 p.m. at St. Mary's School,
Gotlerich. Here at St. Boniface Open
House will be held April 28th and May
1 with Science Fair projects on
display in the school gym April 30 and
May 1.

Another week has elapsed and
almost another month. How quickly
the time seems to pass. Please keep
in mind our Mother's Day tea, bake
sale, plant sale and display of quilts
on Saturday, May 9 from 2:00 to 4:00
p.m. in the auditorium. Any donations
of baking for the bake table would be
sincerely appreciated by the
members of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Please note that the quilt for the
Bean Festival draw is now on display.
Tickets are available either at the
Rest Home or from Auxiliary
members.
The movies shown were "Seal
Island" on Monday evening, followed
by refreshments.
Residents who were out visiting
recently were Mrs. Marcella
Dietrich, Mrs. Ruth Warner, Mrs.
Dorothy Watson, Mr. George Grenier,
Mr. Aaron Gingerich, Mr. Alvin
Steckle and Mrs. Elizabeth
Gingerich.
No doubt most ladies are in the
midst of housecleaning. If by chance
you have any odds and ends of wool,
particularly phentex for knitting or
crocheting, the hobby shop could cer-
tainly use it. Most ladies have pro-
bably put their quilting frames away
until fall and you might have small
bits of quilt batt left over which we
could use for stuffing, also narrow rib-
bon, and of course, nylons or panty
hose are always in demand.
We appreciate Mr. Stephen
Molnar's thoughtfulness in piecing
some lovely plants in the chapel for
the Holy Week services last week, in
fond memory of his late wife.
Bingo was played on Friday even-
ing followed by refreshments.
The Sunday evening dispel service ;
was conducted by Mrs. Shfx'ley glher '
of Hensel.
