Many Easter visitors at Centralia

• Centralia
A large congregation including a
number of visitors were in attendance
for the Easter and Communion ser-
vice in the United Church Sunday
morning.
"Raised with Christ" was the sub-
" ject chosen by Rev. Deborah Carter
for her Easter sermon. The Easter
lilies decorating the church were
placed by. Mrs. Jean Palmer in loving
memory of her husband, the late
Wilbur, her parents and brother, the
late Mr. and Mrs. George Hepburn
and Jack.
The two hydrangeas were from
Steve Molnar and family in loving
memory of the late Mrs. Elizabeth
Molnar. The choir under the direction
of Donald Stuart provided special
music.
Personals
Mr. and Mrs. Bent Caslick and
Gregory spent the Easter weekend
with Jean's parents Mr. and Mrs.
George Beckberger, Cargill.
Mr. and Mrs. Terry Morgan, Mark
and Melissa were Easter Sunday din-
ner guests with Judy's grandmother
Mrs. Jessie Lewis of McGillivray.
Saturday evening visitors with Tom
and 1 were Helen MacDonald,
Clarence, Gladys Davis and Howard
Dolan and Sunday our dinner guests
were Jerry and Carol Mills, Clayton,
Alice, Bonnie and Clyde Kooy and
Russell Ball, Granton.
Mr. and Mrd. Fred Bowden had
their family as guests for the Easter
Sunday brunch at the, Orchid
Restaurant , in London and were
visitors afterwards at the home of
Mrs. Margaret Reid.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Spendiff,
Stratford were visitors with the
Bowden's Thursday afternoon.
Jenny Rimmer was the lucky win-
ner of the large Easter egg in a draw
at S & N variety store.• Congratula-
tions Jenny.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Brandon and
family, t.jxbridge spent the Easter
weekend with their parents and
grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Elmer
Powe.
Mr. and Mrs. Terry Morgan enter-
tained Thursday evening for a social
evening and cards. The ladies all be-
ing the champion card players.
Mrs. Von Overholt joined with her
family Easter Sunday at the home of
Ron and Marlene Moore and family,
Exeter.

The sermon topic at Zion United
Church on Good Friday was taken
from John 19:28-42 and was read by
Wayne King. Rev. Elder's sermon
was titled "The Day Christ Died."
The sermon topic Easter Sunday
was taken from Mark 16:1-8 titled
"Joyful Reassurance". Sacrament of
Holy Communion was celebrated. A
good crowd was in attendance. What
a beautiful weekend to celebrate
Easter.
There will be no choir practice
Wednesday evening.
Sympathy is extended to the
families of the late Willis Stewardson
who passed away Friday at South
Huron Hospital and was buried Mon-
day in Crediton Cemetery.
UCW 25th Anniversary: "Called to
Respond" is our United Church
Women 25th Anniversary theme. Join
us next Sunday for this special service
of celebration. Our guest speaker will
be Mrs. Verna Burgin and our guest
soloist is Mrs. Millie Desjardine.
Several of our ladies will also take
part in this service.
Church Clean Up: Ladies of the
congregation -- Your help is requested
for a scrubbing day, washing the
wood work, etc. in the Sunday School
room o,. Ap- 1 27 at 1 p.m. Bring

scrub pail, brushes, and cloths. Your
help will be appreciated by all.
Zurich Women Aglow: The April
meeting will be held on Monday April
27 at Zurich Public School at 7:30 p.m.
The speaker will be Marilyn Jenkins.
In hospital are Mrs. Alma Schwar-
ta, Mr. Eldon Smith and Mrs. Estrella
Finkbeiner (South Huron, Exeter ).
Crediton and District Social Club
are having their Spring fling dance
Saturday April 25 at 9:00 p.m. Light
and Easy are providing the music.
Mr. and Mrs. Stan Preszcator spent
Sunday with Miss Brenda Glanville
and Carl Farr in St. Thomas.
Mrs. Nancy Dowson, Brantford,
Mrs. Jerry Finnen and Andrea, Kit-
chener, John Fahner and Todd,
Espanola, Donald Fahner, Exeter
and Ronald Fahner and Cheryl,
Huron Park spent Easter Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Fahner.
Mrs. Pearl Haines, Mrs. Gertrude
Flegman and Mrs. Mildred Cora
Dearborn, Michigan spent a few days
with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Fahner.
Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Wein spent
their 50th wedding anniversary with
family, friends, relatives and
neighbours at Dashwood Community
Centre, Sunday April 12 as 42 family
members sat down to a dinner at the
hall.
Present denial gifts
at Hibbert Church

The Easter service of the Hibbert
United Church Women began with the
presentation of Lenten "denial" gifts,
destined for "Operation Blessing" in
Stratford.
Margaret Kemp and Bernice Nor-
ris, led the worshippers in a
thoughtful presentation of the solilo-
quies of each of the twelve disciples at
that first Easter period.
Mary F. Dow reported on the work
of the Presbyterial Committee on
church and society, of which she is a
member. This was followed by a
ceremony of setting aglow, a tree of
remembrance, to the singing of the
hymn "Angels Rolled the Stone
Away". The following business
meeting was chaired by Margaret
Christie, with secretary Helen Fell.
Some of the upcoming projects con-
firmed are adding the days offering
to the Lenten gift basket, voting a
cash donation to the Huron -Perth

camp leadership training program,
finalizing plans for our share of the
April 29 Special Events in Kirkton,
and deciding to again cater for the
Mitchell fair board barbeque.
Members were also urged to attend
the camping experience of June 15 as
well as the "eat out" meeting June 25.
Donuts and tea, provided and serv-
ed by hostess Marjorie Drake and
Ellen Vivian, were enjoyed by all.
Personals
Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Scott are
home again, after enjoying several
weeks in the sunny south.
Mrs. Doris Miller and Mrs. John
Templeman, attended the Easter ser-
vice of the Seaforth Presbyterian
Church Women on Wednesday
evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Rob Templeman,
Miss Carol Stewart, Kitchener and
Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Ebel, Goderich
attended relatives' wedding and
reception in Winsdor, Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Restemayer, and
family Barrie, visited on Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Rob Templeman and
family.
Despite the wet weather, Sunday,
quite a number of people participated
in the car rally, sponsored by the
South Hibbert Athletic Association.

niece Saturday in Aylmer. Jodi was
a bridesmaid and spent a few days in
Aylmer before the wedding.
The crowd was larger than usual at
Keegan Inn when the senior citizens
met Monday, April 13 with prizes go-
ing to Andy Thompson, Jessie Lewis,
Margaret Carter, Kay Armstrong,
Cleve Pullman, Tom and Mary Kooy.
Next gathering is April 27 at 2 p.m.
A delicious dinner was served after.
Neil school euchre prize winners
were high score Mary Kooy, Murray
Carter, lone hands Lois Hodgins, Ot-
to Darling, low score Mrs. Elmer
Walker, Charlotte Barker. Special
prizes went to Mary Meikle, Tom
Kooy.
The next party April 27 will be con-
vened by Otto and Dorothy Darling
and Jessie Lewis.
An Oddfellows service will be held
in the United Church next Sunday
