the Irish could generate very ittle of-
fensive power •-
- The only goal for the Lucan dub
came at 9:0701 the third period when
the outcome was pretty well decided
with •the. Braves having already •
scored four times
Brad Muir was the only Lucan
player to teat Jell Bill in the Braves

ing glove after he took passes ,from
Jesse Crawford and Hob Hardy.
The Lucan Irish are back on top by -
one game in the all-unlariu.Junior •IY
finals against the 'Tavistock Braves
after suffering a 5-1 loss in the second
game of the series Tuesday night The
Irish bounced back from Tuesday's
hiss which was one of a very few at
horse this season with a creditable
performance Saturday night. They
won by. a 3-2 score.
The fourth game of the series was
played last night:. Tuesday in
;Tavistock. The fifth contest is set for
.the latcail Community Centre Thurs-
day night :1 sixth game if necessary
goes in Tavistock Saturday night and
if a seventh and deciding- lilt is
necessary it will go in Lucan Tuesday
night. April 28.
After, winning the first game of the
het -of -seven series in Tavistock, the
Irish seemed to rest on their laurels
Tuesday and_.were never in Conten-
tion. Tavistock came out flying and
for all intents apd purposes the game
was over in the first period with the
Braves ahead 2-0. . .
Coach- Ed Parkinson brought his
players hack to reality by, sending
them out for extra practice .im-
mediately following Tuesday;+
defeat.
They were ready to play Saturday -
night and looked more•like the club
• that ousted the Brussels Bulls in the
semi-final round. -Lucan coach Ed
Parkinson said after Saturday's
game. The second game loss was
probably a. blessing in disguise..11
brought our guys down from the high
they felt after heating Brussels. I
guess we all thought any letdown
would conic in the first game in
Tavistock."
Parkinson continued. "They are a
better club than we gave them credit
for.- Their defencemen standup at the
Mortise and -the 1'orw•ards do their job
in coming hack.
Assistant coach Dave ftevington
who piloted the Irish to a provincial
championship in the 1981-82 season
said Saturday night," We will have to
play a lot tougher than we-have.'We
must slow ,then'' down. at the
Mortise."

leading scorer for the Lucan club dur-

Wayne Urbshott with a separated shoulder. T -A photo , saw very limited action. He was us-
ed in only four or five situations for
face-offs in the Irish end of the rink.
Parkinson said Urbshott will like-
ly see more action in the fifth game,
ofthe series in Lucan tomorrow night.
Ile added. "We probably won't use
him much in Tuesday's game in the
small. arena in Tavistock."
Tavistock coach Ken Kitching had
the same. thoughts as the Irish
coaches did after the second ganieof
- -the series: Kitching said, '`Our boys
- just • weren't ready fo -play
tonight:They have to learn they've got
to do more that put their skates on to
w•in-,
Kitching added. "This series isn't
over by a long shot. The Irish may
have won the battle tonight, but the
war is far from over." . '
• Although the Irish .did. win the
Saturday night battle, the outcome
was in doubt until the early moments
of the third period. In fact, the Braves
were ahead 2-1 after 20 minutes of
play when they took advantage of a
number of penalties.
The gatne-was more than 14 -
minutes old when the Irish put the
HIGH FIVES - Brad Hodgins and Grant Larsen exchange congratla-
tions following a Lucan Irish goal, Saturday night.

good goaltending at both- ends. •

"The eventual winning goal. for the
Irish cattle in an unusual way. Joe
Febrev was fighting .for position in
front of the Tavistock net when a ris-
ing shot, from the hlueline fired- by
Brad Hodgins struck him on the
helmet and deflected into the .net.
The big stop as far as the Irish were
concerned came in the second period
was made by Doug Haskett as he
thwarted Larry Zehr on a three -on -
one breakaway.
The same.thing happened again as.
Haskell stopped Zehr from in close
near the. three minute mark"
Mark Bannotf gave the Irish a two
goal margin al 5:64 as he.converted
passes from Dean Doerr and Ron
