Times-Advocate, 1987-04-22, Page 8Page 8 Times -Advocate, April 22, 1987 Sunrise breakfasts, dramas, part of Easter celebrations ASunrise Breakfast and presenta- tion was offered at the arena by the Mennonite Church congregation. The Zurich Gymnastics club held a Bake and Craft Sale on Saturday afternoon and lucky winners of draws were, Patti Bedard, RR 1 Hay, a cute yellow bunny, Jenny Morrison, Zurich a decorated rabbit cake, Shirley Hay, Zurich, an Easter basket and Jackie Clausius of Huronj3ark a pink bunny. An Easter Sunrise Breakfast was held at the Lutheran Church, follow- ed by a service and play by the Youth club, celebrating the Lord's Resurrection. Bingo winners Frieda Boa of Hensall, Francis Gib- son of Dashwood and another lady (identity unknown) split the Thursday Bingo jackpot of $750 three ways. The Mystery Prize of $250 was split seven ways. Members of the LionsClub helped out. Special Easter prizes of hams and turkeys were also prizes. Baptism Corey Joseph Regier, son of Gary and Betty, was baptized on Easter Sunday at St. Peter's Church, St. Joseph's Parish by Fr. Bensette with Godparents being Pat Regier and Tony Pennings, followed by a family get-together at the baby's home. , Easter is a joyous time of the year and a chance for family members to get together for the day after they've been to church. We enjoyed spending Easter Sunday at the home of Mozart and Marie Gelinas Sr. along with the rest of the family and having a delicious ham and beef supper.. Some of the other families having Easter Supper together were: Mr. and Mrs. Earl Flaxbard, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Overholt, Mr. and Mrs. Clare Masse, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Farwell, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Gra- inger, Mr. and Mrs. Herb Klopp and the fannilies of Phil and Vonnie Overholt. Lorne Fleischauer is now a patient in Exeter Hospital. Harold Dietrich is home recuperating from a recent operation. Welcome into full communion with the Catholic Church to Gerald Col- eman, Joanne McBride and Mary Hovius. All three were received into the Church of St. Boniface Parish at the Easter Vigil Service on Saturday. Madeline Cook from Hamilton spent last Thursday and Friday in ' town with her parents, Marie and Percy Bedard Sr. and family. Town I will not be having any news in next week's paper as I and daughter Meagan will be away for two week's holidays visiting with relatives in Windsor. If anyone has something for my col- umn please just drop it into the office by April 27th for the one week only. George and Rosalie Harvey of Red- ford, Michigan are spending a few days and the Easter weekend at their summer home by the lake. Son John and Ellen Harvey of Troy, Michigan. visited with them for a few days. Several from town travelled to Hamilton from last Wednesday to Easter Sunday. June Fisher, Sherrie Stade, Sandra Dickert and Oilie Ed- wards took part in the Provincial Championship, Canadian Open Bowl- ing Tournament that was held at the Sherwood Lanes in Hamilton. Going along as fans were Tony and Marlene Bedard, Bob Fisher and Ron Dickert, as well as Scott Bedard who spent the four days visiting with his cousin, Jason Cook who lived in Hamilton. Joan Smith spent a few days in Lon- don last week visiting with her son Doug and family. Polka Dot Door live at Playhouse Polka Dot Door Live, adapted from TV Ontario's highly successful televi- sion series, will be at the Huron Coun- try Playhouse on August 24 for two separate appearances - the first one being at 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Children are enchanted by Polkaroo, the colorful costumed character who appears in the programs. The show is' produced by Gairey Richardson, president of Child's Play Productions, and one of the hosts of the TV series, $een daily on TVOntario. TVOntario's Polka Dot Door is one of North America's most successful and durable show for childl-en. The philosophy behind the series and the show i* simple: children learn through play. Polka Dot Door en- courages children'to be active par- ticipants rather than passive specatators. While Mrs. Bunny was visiting her grandmother all the way from Toron- to, neighbour childrenplaying outside also received a big hug from the bun- ny. Other stops made along the way were to the homes of Donna and Jeff Dawe and boys at RR 2 Zurich and the Fergusons in Hensall. Sunday morning breakfast guests with Mrs. Theresa Hartman were her granddaughter, Susan and hus- band Pete LeMieu from Toronto. Easter visitors spent the day with Mrs. Marcella Overholt and Mrs. Emma Schilbe. Mr. and Mrs. Milfred Overholt had company for the holiday weekend. Pastor Stephen andMa -Ann Anes parents from Peterborough visited on the weekend. John and Shelly Denomme Jr. of Windsor spent the weekend with his parents John and Bern Denomme Sr. at RR 2 Zurich. David and Carolyn Stark and two daughters of Windsor spent Easter with his mother, Mrs. Theresa Stark: Jerome and Betty -Ann Geoffrey and two sons of Tillsonburg spent Sun- day with Clarence and Beattie Geoffrey. Miss Donna Merner of Toronto visited with her parents Arnold and Belle Merner over the weekend. It's nice to see that Marg Johnston of Bayview subdivision had her tradi- tional decorated 'Easter egg tree' out front of her home again this year. Good Friday visitors with Rita Thiel were her son, Greg and Debbie Thiel and two children from Strat- ford, along with her . daughter, Catherine and Bruce McIntyre and three children of London. Mrs. Margaret Kalbfleisch spent a few days at Easter with her children and families in Burlington and Toronto. Matthew and Alyshia Gelinas spent a few days last week visiting with their nanny, Mrs. Eva Digou in London. It's good to see that a lot of our town friends are returning home again after being south all winter . Welcome back to Curtis and Mary 'Gingerich and Earl and Malinda Gingerich both from Arcadia, Florida and to Gerald and Ursula Regier and Maurice and Gert Durand. BRIBERY - Dave Siebert as the high priest bribes the Roman soldier to keep the empty tomb a secret during a re-enactment of the Resu rection by members of Zurich Mennonite Church at the Zurich Con munity Centre.
