ushorne, on the 20th day bf January, 1987 decided to designate the lands
,nd buildings, set out below as a property of historical value in interest
under the Ontario Heritage Act, 1980, R.S.O. Chapter 337, Part 4. ,Short
statement of the reasons for the proposed designation:
' • e Strang Farm House, Lot 29, Concession 3, Usbome.Township has been
acommt nded for designation for historical and architectural reasons.
This house, built in 1865 by'John Strbng, is similar to homes built In
Scotlandai the•sartne time and is an example of pther stonehottses built
in this area by John Strang. It has been the Strang family home for over
4 generations and is presently occupied by Keith Strbng and his family.
It is also important for its use as the Township's municipal office from
1919 to 1935 and from 1947 to 1965. During these 2 periods. John's son
Henry (1919-1935) and Henry's son Harry (1947.1965) served as municipal
clerk from these premises.'
