One -two -three-four. That's right this is April and the fourth
month of 1987. A familiar cry of the other kind of 'fore' has already
been heard from the two Exeter and -area golf courses.
Golfers and those who would like to have the opportunity to
become interested in the game will have lots of chances at the two
area outlets.. -
Ron and Shirley Bileski have purchased the Exeter golf and
country club facility from Allan and Hazel Westcott and are in the
midst of making a number of changes and improvements.
At the Ironwood layout, Gib' and Barb Dow are -making a
number of changes to take care of the marry golfers expected to
be out this summer.
The .Bileskis come to the Exeter golf and country club from
Dryden where Ron was pro manager of the golf and curling clubs.
He has been a member of the Canadian Professional Golfers
Association since 1968.
Ron Bileski said this week he will be enlarging the greens, con-
touring
ontouring the fairways, establishing a driving range and later in the
summer will be creating a Targe putting green complete with sand
traps.
A junior golf clinic is being set up for beginners and the ad--
vanced youngster. These classes are expected to start the first
week in May and run each Monday until the current school term
is over.
Adult golf lessons will be available starting with a three hour
classroom sessiona-two-orrcourse-practice-sessions.of-one and

Ironwood expands
At the Ironwood course, owner Gib Dow reports increasing the
size of the club house by 100 percent. This will provide seating for
over 100 peple with a total capacity of 150 including the patio. Dow
continues, "We have an ongoing cu►urse expansion program for the
additional nine holes which is progressing well."
In the eye of the beholder
The old saying of something being in the eye of the beholder
certaily held true in the opening game of the American league
season in Detroit April. .
We caught part of the ninth inning when Dave Righetti of the
Yankees struck out a Tiger with a wide curve ball. Tiger announcer
George Kell said, "That was a terrible call. It was outside by a
foot."
