tuary were placed on behalf of the

Michael Reid. The Easter lily was in
memory of Mrs. Myrtle MacGregor.

tion was ushered in by Syd Durie and

Pearen welcomed everyone at the
door.
Diane Rice read the lessons from
Daniel 3:8-27 and Luke 9:51, wherein
Rev. R. Peebles based his topic
"Nerve of Failure". Hesaid we must
all set our faith toward Jerusalem,
and love will triumph over evil. Are
you with me? or are you going to
follow society?"
Uncle Ed told the story about a
mother bird 'who covered. her nest
with a leafy twig. to keep a snake
from harming her eggs. As the snake
climbed towards the nest, it saw the
twig (poisonous) and turned around.
The tree is like the cross, poisonous
to all those who do wrong.

were readers, and Lydia Duchou was
cantor, with Paul Dietrich was
organist. Roberta Walker performed
a solo, "The Holy City" at
communion.
In his sermon, Father Morrissey
asked why we can't ever forget the
fact of Christ's crucifixion? Countless
numbers have died since 29 A.D., yet
this one death has captured man's im-
agination ever since. The cross is un-
forgettable because it is a revelation
of human nature; that ordinary peo-
ple, like ourselves, were responsible
for Christ's crucifixion.
It is also a revelation of Divine
Nature, a living picture of sacrificial
love that knows no beginning and no
end. The One who suffered for us was
both human and Divine, so we should
be proud to belong to that same
human race of which Jesus was such
an outstanding example.
After each mass at 9 and 11 a.m.
members of the parish went to the
Alhambra hall for a free breakfast,
sponsored by the Catholic Women's
league. The ladies were kept busy ser-
ving up pancakes and sausages, muf-
fins, orange juice, and tea/coffee.
There Was a good crowd to enjoy the
food and the social time, to spread
parish spirit, especially during the
Lenton/Easter season.
On Holy.Thursday, the mass of our

Saturday at 7:15 p.m. and Sunday

. Church of God
The triumphal entry of Jesus into
Jerusalem was the theme of the Palm
Sunday services at the Grand Bend
Church of God. Grace and Keith
Horner were the door greeters. The
call to worship was taken from
Zachariah 9:9, "Lo, your King comes
to you humble and riding on an ass,".
read by Rev. Desjardine. Michael and
Michelle Vincent sang a special
number "One -Day".
The pastor's message was taken
from John 12, reciting the story of
Jesus' entry into Jerusalem as
Israel's conquering King. The
disciples could not comprehend the
excitement and adulation of Jesus by
the people, and His acceptance of it.
The Pharisees were disappointed that
their schemes to arrest Jesus were in
disarray. Excitement and celebration
will come to us tob, as we allow Jesus
to enter our lives.
The Sunday evening service was
one of song and praise as several peo-
ple took part in a service organized by
George Winegarden.
All the ladies in the community are
invited to attend the Easter
Ecumenical service at 8 p.m.,
Wednesday night at the Church of
God., Evelyn (Desjardine) Krueger
will be the guest speaker.
The Beaconnaires met last Monday
evening as 40 people enjoyed a Bump-
tious potluck supper followed by their
meeting. Mrs. Evelyn McNaughton •
was the guest speaker from Ailsa
Craig. She showed slides of her
September trip to several European
